You have found the LiveJournal forum for naturists/nudists in the furry community. We invite therian, otherkin, were, furry lifestylers, those who have a passing interest in the fandom, and barepaw enthusiasts who are ready to take it up a notch. We’re not out to knock anybody, we simply promote naturism and its non-sexual nude expression of our true beings, and seek to achieve mutual body-acceptance.
Some furries want to reestablish spiritual connections with other animal species with whom we coexist. Some furries don’t see the need in adding clothes to make a character more anthopomorphic. Naturism is a way to acknowledge our humanity, while stripping away often unnecessary, superficial restraints, finding the purest joy in simply being ourselves.
Naked, yet complete
Social nudism isn’t about exposing what some term as their “naughty bits” -- It’s about coming to the realization that no part of us was created shameful. The only shame is that which we artificially place upon being nude. It isn’t about exposing, but it’s that there is often no good reason to conceal in the first place.
We are complete beings from the moment we are born. We bring nothing in our coming, and take nothing with us in our going.
Decency and modesty
When skimpy clothes accentuate what is teasingly hidden, then society understandably desires modesty. Bikinis, ‘Daisy Dukes’, short skirts and other immodest clothing are detrimental because they transform someone’s body into a sex object. You no longer observe or respect the individual for who they are, because your focus is on what is just beyond view, creating a preoccupation of their sex organs or mammary glands. This causes lust instead of healthy appreciation, and sex stigma in the place of mutual body acceptance. When society says that sex organs should be hidden because of their use in intercourse, then to avoid a double standard, why not state that mouths should be covered because of their use in passionate kissing? Should we hide our mouths in the name of decency and modesty? Of course not.
Being nude in everyday situations helps a society built around shame to understand that the nude body does not equate to the sexual body. While people are nude in sexual situations, the mere presence of a nude body does not presume a sexual situation. The two are mutually exclusive. Naturism promotes this value and shows that the nude human body does not exist solely for sex, and that wholesomeness can walk hand in hand with nudity.
Benefits of nudity
Where clothing is optional or not present, there are statistically less teen pregnancies, less instances of rape, anorexia, plastic surgery, and generally happier and healthier lives for couples, single people, and families of all sizes, shapes, and ages. A child growing up in a naturist home generally has higher self-esteem, is not traumatized by the onset of puberty, is not as likely to develop pornographic addictions, and has an easier time in beginning relationships.
When you visit a nude resort, you notice that with nothing to hide there is often no negative aggression, that even intensely shy people find it easy to talk to those they’ve just met, that children are often well-adjusted, polite, and completely at ease with themselves and others.
Plunge into the pool and feel the rush of current and bubbles course over your body, unbroken from head to toes. Climb back out and lay in the sun without drying off -- women having no fear of yeast infections as those wearing damp bikinis. Put on some minimal sandals and hike with a friend, letting the breezes cool your body instead of having sweat trapped against your skin by clothes.
The bond shared between furry and naturism
We all understand how out-of-place and comical it is to see a real animal with clothes. Animals have no need of clothes – they have their fur, scales, skin and feathers. They are suited to their environment, and so are we, since we too are earth-dwellers. But so few people are prepared to walk out beyond closed doors and feel the lightest breeze or patch of sun upon their nude body. Many people throughout their lives, insulate themselves to such a degree from their surroundings that there is no immunity to the cold or to any passing virus.
They accept the lie that their feet are unsanitary and need to be covered, when it’s the layers of socks and shoes which don’t allow their feet to breathe, causing fungus and odor. Don’t believe me? Try wearing thick cotton gloves on your hands from dawn till dusk, then see how they look and smell when you finally uncover them! People are disgusted with their love handles, they think their penis is too small or breasts too big, or are self-conscious of their scars and blemishes, and they don’t realize that their body is very average, yet beautifully unique – that they’ve been lied to their whole lives about what the human body is ‘supposed’ to look like by the fashion, film, and porn industries.
For the furry, there is a whole new world to explore based upon connections to their natural surroundings. All of the senses are heightened: sights, sounds, smells, the texture of the earth. In practice, there often comes a deeper revelation of our place in this world, our connections to our animal brothers and sisters, and the enhancements possible to activities with our human friends. Every grove of trees can become a cathedral for prayer or meditation. Imagine yourself as the species of your totem …their view of the world and the feeling of the earth beneath their paws, aware of everything around them …be a part of the natural scene instead of just observing it. In conclusion, naturism and furry are naturally compatible.
Practical naturism
The only limitations are proper venues to practice naturism, like designated beaches and resorts and secluded places off the beaten path. In the world we live, the nudist cannot expect all others to share their enlightenment when they walk unclothed out of their suburban house or down a city street. While it’s almost never a crime to be nude per se, arrests occur when someone is offended by another’s nudity. If there are no other venues, a private dwelling can be designated as a clothes-free or clothes-optional zone.
This is a place for furries who can relate to these philosophies, or are curious and might consider aspects of naturism for themselves. It is a place to ask questions, to share views, current events, experiences, even photographs, poems and artwork celebrating the beauty of our nude bodies in all of their completeness.
New members If these things make sense to you, please join us! This community journal has an open membership intended for people 14+, and entries and comments are not moderated. If you are only watching and not a member, or you’re a member and under 18, you will not be able to view our secure gallery. Members who are 18+ will not automatically be able to view the secure gallery until it is clear that their interest in bare_furs is not merely sexual. Once here, please post an introduction and let us get to know you. Your maintainers are a husband and wife team, here on a daily basis to keep this a safe, family-oriented place. If you’d rather not join just yet, you’re welcome to comment on others’ entries or comments.
Da Rules
In sharing both art and photographs, do not post sexually-suggestive poses or extreme close-ups of genitalia, nor scenes depicting sexual acts or fetishes. When writing, use no slang in place of proper terms when describing body parts and use no detailed descriptions of sex acts or fetishes. None of these have to do with naturism. Please refrain from using vulgar words which aren't meant for eyes of all ages.
Post no nude photos of people without their permission. Because of laws fueled by an often over-sensitivity to anything resembling child pornography, and because of the policies of LiveJournal, post no full-frontal nude photos of people who are under 18. Post all nude photos "Friends Only" and behind anlj-cut.
Those who will be banned: A Trolls, B People who try to use the Bible as a weapon against nudists, C People using lewd comments toward a member. Since our beginning, "2" users have been banned.
Not every entry needs to be directly connected to the subject of naturism, but the general idea is to post entries which may interest other naturists.
