If you haven't yet, take a quick look at AUM's website. www.aum.edu It looks a lot nicer now. We've also changed our name apparently. We're not Auburn Montgomery not Auburn University Montgomery. I hear that we're also going to start having higher standards for admission, which I think is great. Just thought I'd share that info.

I just received an important email from AUM in reference to the weather:

Sbj: AUM will close today at 1 pm due to severe weather

The campus has already experienced minimal damage from a tornado this morning and the threat of severe weather and potential flooding exists for the remainder of the afternoon. In addition, closed roads and emergency personnel operating near the campus make travel to and from campus difficult.

AH Easter Egg Hunt for Disadvantaged Children
Hey everyone! Yesterday American Huamnics held a great event out at AUM. Every year we have an Easter Egg Hunt for children that can't affrod a good holiday. We had Carabas come out and food was donated by Chappy's, Fresh Martket, Stevie B's, Pizza Hut, Tomininos, Sclotsky's, Krispy Kreme, and Guthrie's. We had games and face painting and coloring sheets. There was also an egg hunt and children recieved candies and baskets. They got to see the Easter Bunny and have their picture taken with her and got a chocolate bunny.
It was wonderfuL! We had volenteers from AUM and ZTA and many different high schools. We had about 200 children at the event and it was a smashing success!
I work with some of the kids as MANE. The adullam house is a home for children whose parents are incarcerated. I love spending time with them and it was wonderful to see the smiles on their faces.
See we do touch the community at AUM.

AH Mummy trip
Yesterday, I went with my friends from American Humanics to the Mummy exhibit in Mobile. We took a charter bus and watched “educational” videos about Egypt. Then we broke out “The Mummy,” and we were all happy. :)
At noon, we saw an IMAX presentation of “The Mysteries of the Nile.” It was very interesting. It was a bunch of people rafting down the Nile. It made me kinda sea-sick though.
Then we went to the Mummy exhibit hosted by the British Museum. We watched a 3-D show about inspecting the mummy. It was pretty cool because we went through the CAT scan and all the other scientific stuff. The guys that were embalming him (he was a special priest) made a big mistake; they left a bowl to catch resign to dry! It was stuck to his head! They tried to get it off but all they managed to do was take off a chunk of the back of his head. So they left it!
Then we got to see a whole bunch or artifacts. We saw some burial blocks and statues. There were some organ jars and pretty blue ceramics. I don’t think about blue when I think of Egypt. Then there was the mummy itself. We were disappointed because the mummy is still in its inner sarcophagus. The people at the museum claim it’s because the mummy is too damaged when they unwrap him. That is why we saw the 3-D movie.
But it was still neat. We also saw the various talismans they put in the mummy.
I got a pair of earring with Isis on them. They are very pretty. Then two of my friends and I went to the Picklefish for lunch. They had great cheese fries.
So it was lots of fun. Next year they are doing a Pompeii exhibit and Tink want to take everyone to that.

Need some help with the GRE?
It just occured to me that perhaps some of you would be interested in something that I have: a practice psychology GRE & a practive general GRE.

If you want a copy, get it. Just, ya know, right click and hit "save as..." or the equivalent for your browser. They're .pdf, so you'll need Adobe if you don't already have it.

So how many people with Groucho glasses were in the gym?
The last count I heard was about a thousand. I thought it was a sad turn out especially since it was open to the public.

Printing!
Anyone else annoyed by the new printing system on campus/in the Taylor Center? The whole "log on to this other computer to print" thing is kinda aggravating. But what's more aggravating is listening to all the people freak out about the new password. They're all like "omg i can't print! how do i log on now?! god hates me waaah" or something similar to that. But what they don't notice is the piece of paper tacked to the wall above the printing station that has the new password information highlighted in bright green. Just look up, people. Everything you need to know is right in front of you if you just open your eyes.

$50.00 limit. I think that's per semester. If that's the case, then whatever ... 500 pages each semester. I don't think I'll ever print 500 pages in one semester ... but you never know. I hope there's a way to add money to your account if you need it. Otherwise, that's kinda poo-ish. But, I totally understand why the implemented the new system. I can't tell you how many times I've had to wait to print a paper after some ass finishes printing his entire fantasy football league's stats about a billion times. That guy, I'm sure, could easily use 500 pages per semester.

Thoughts?

Resident Life
Hi everyone, technically I'm new here but I am posting for a friend who is attending AUM coming up in August (International Student). Hopefully you guys can help me get a few questions answered so I can give her some information back. These questions pertain mostly to resident students.

- How do you like Resident life? My friend is living in the West Courtyards. Are there things she should be aware of? What are the perks about living on res. and the not so perky parts. (Good to know both for balance)

- For the cases where you are sharing a double room (I guess you could call it) with three other people, do you find sharing a bathroom and kitchen difficult?

- Do you find it difficult to share a room with someone else? I guess it also depends if you get along with your roomate and what not as well. How different was it for you to share your room with someone else? What are the problems with that, if any?

- What appliances are already in a double room? (Kitchen appliances, tv...etc)

- Are there wireless hotspots around the campus? And in residence? My friend has purchased a laptop with Wireless capabilities, so it would be good to know if she would be able to wirelessly connect. Especially from her dorm room. If not available from the dorm room, should she come with a cable so she can plug herself in, to use the internet?

- What would you highly recommend for her to bring that may not be listed on the "Remember to Bring..." list?

Thank you for your help in advance!

i'm coming back to the homeland in the fall. i was at huntingdon for 2 semesters because they were giving me alot of scholarship money to play guitar, but after realizing they have an insane requirement of stupid core classes, i'm coming back.

so, i'm going to do a lame intro post thing. oh, you may remember me. i did the comic for the aumnibus, and wrote articles that pissed people off, and i talked way too much in classes.

name: jason
age: 22
hometown: montgomery
major: liberal arts... english/music
year: junior, i don't know about what's transferring tho. :(
expected grad: Spring 2006
career goal: to invest in my own happiness.
gpa: 3.5 after transferring to huntingdon, it'll probably be lower when i come back though... 8:00 in the morning bible class can suck my dick.
best thing about aum: "Those fucking smokers in front of Goodwyn Hall," great teachers in most cases, a student body that doesn't entirely suck. oh, and the architecture. haha.
worst thing about aum: it's a bit out of the way to drive across town... oh, and sometimes when the wind blows weird, it has an odor that's not too pleasant.
favorite class(ever, cuz i'm not currently taking classes): writing the personal essay with dr. gerard.
least favorite class(you know the drill..): music appreciation. ugh, that class sucked.

i need a job, i have an interview in the morning. oh, it's morning. oops. anyways, i need a job, so yeah. if you know anyone that's hiring, i'm a good employee. i can do anything. i can even fly. no shit. i can. stop giggling. i can. ok, fine. be that way.
my god, i'm lame.
buy buy
jason
