The contest at work hasn't even started and already it's heating up. Seems like a lot of us are real enthused about this thing.
I'm not usually all that competitive but my one friend at work is being such a braggy-pants about how she knows she's going to win because she's just so gosh-darned determined, that suddenly I'm thinking in her general direction "I wouldn't be spending that prize money just yet, girlie" and getting a spiffy brand-new burst of motivation my own self.
I'm trying something new. I just heard about a diet where you go really low calorie every other day, so I think I'm going to do that on Monday-Wednesday-Friday every week. Today was the first day I tried it, and I came up with what I think is a pretty healthy menu for around 600 calories:
Breakfast: smoothie made with 1 cup non-fat kefir, 1/2 cup blueberries, splenda, vitamin powder
Lunch: 3 cups salad with three ounces low-fat deli ham & 2 T. italian dressing (made with olive oil)
Dinner: 1 cup steamed broccoli followed by 1 cup Kashi Go-Lean cereal with sliced strawberries and 1 cup skim milk
That's two milk servings, 5 fruits/veggies, 2 servings protein, 1 serving grain, a smidge of healthy oil... that's pretty healthy, right? If I don't do it every day, that is? I was a little hungry today, but hell, this is luxurious compared to the fasts I was doing awhile back.
Between that, managing my carbs and exercising a whole bunch I hope to see some bigger losses than what I have so far. If it doesn't work or if I can't hack it, I'll go back to doing Core as written.
I need to get my ass to bed so I can get up and get to the gym on time. Tomorrow is the dreaded stepmill.

We are having a very quiet weekend, actually. R isn't feeling the best, and frankly, it's fucking COLD out there, lol. We may go…
Good luck with the class, and feel free to email me if you can stand a little distraction and want to chat!
