Mark your calendars! Midnight's July party will occur on Saturday the 27th; and we'll be celebrating the b'day of DJ JavieR, who's spinning along with DuJour and, making a rare D.C. appearance, Liebchen. We'll also be honoring the memory of SF/horror writer Richard Matheson, who died in June, with our selections on the big screen TV over the bar and in our list of drawing prizes. More details soon...

The latest word from the Dracula's Ball crew--received Tuesday evening--is that the Ball is indeed still going to happen this evening (Wed., Oct. 31) in Philly. They report that "the storm has passed us and...our location is in great shape to proceed with our Halloween event." Here's a reminder: Midnight's 10th annual Halloween Party is now less than two weeks away. As usual, we'll be hosting a costume contest (with hundreds of dollars in cash prizes) shortly after the witching hour; and our guests do the judging, so be sure to bring all your friends out to cheer you on! Midnight resident DJs DuJour and Gleek will be joined behind the decks by Liebchen, who's making a rare visit from NYC. There'll be drink and food specials, courtesy of The Meeting Place, all evening long, plus extra candy, spooky decorations, and lighting. Don't forget, too, that because Midnight is 18+ you can introduce your younger friends to the scene on this most gothic of nights, and that the cover remains a mere $5 (unless you take advantage of our discount admission deals, of course). In case you have not heard, Alchemy is back! Two weeks ago we re-opened at Phase 1 Dupont, just 1/2 block of Soho cafe, two blocks west of Dupont Circle, and tonight is our third Thursday back. Phase 1 has two dance floors plus all kinds of spaces in between them, super-friendly staff and just a great vibe all round. We're thrilled to bring back Alchemy to such a great venue. Tonight, May 24th, we have the following DJs lined up for you: Vlad Lordship Javier Loss of Signal Dirty B 2501 Two dj rooms spinning two different types of music to keep you entertained and the party going. After an amazing opening night, we are back to bring you week two of Alchemy in it's awesome new venue. Remember the basics: 9pm - 2am 21+ $7 cover/2-for-1 before 10 Phase 1 of Dupont - 1415 22nd St NW, Washington, DC 20037 The club does not take credit but does have ATMs Drinks are relatively low priced for DC clubs these days, but also make sure to ask the bartenders about specials for the night as well! This week Alchemy brings you the following DJ lineup: Steven Archer (Ego Likeness, Spellbound, Alchemy, chiar0scuro, etc, etc,etc) Cheetah Dave (XUBERX, DC Midnight) Du Jour (DC Midnight) Dirty B (Alchemy, Tronik, Chronos) 2501 (Alchemy, Tronik, Chronos, Psychoburbia) The format last week of mostly harder electro in the big room and *mostly* oldschool industrial/goth/80's/softer electro in the back seemed to work out nicely, so for now we're going to stick with it. A note: there was some confusion early on last week about the 2-4-1 admission before 10. If you had trouble with this last week, please speak to Kit at her bar, or else see Tony or Brian this week, and we'll take care of it.

This is the Saturday many of you have been waiting for! On the 24th, Midnight is hosting the (rescheduled) first edition of "So Alive," our occasional Alternative '80s dance party. DJs DuJour, Gleek, and Cheetahdave will be spinning songs from that decade that were actually memorable (unlike many of the lamestream hits). In addition, look for a Cyndi Lauper concert ticket giveaway, super drink specials at the bar, free b'day cake, '80s DVDs on the big screen TV over the bar, '80s decorations and giveaways, and more! Hang in there! Saturday's coming, bringing with it another great edition of Midnight. This week DJs Engel, Rift, and AudioRapture will keep you stomping out on the dance floor. The Meeting Place promises us more super drink specials, Exclusively Me Jewelry vends, and we're promoting Ladytron's new CD plus giving away passes to the band's upcoming 9:30 Club show.
