Writer & Website Guide
Explore My Work
During my years working in web content and digital marketing, I had a secret plan: learn everything I could, then use it to build a creative life on my own terms as a writer and artist. At first, that was it. Then others in my creative community had questions about their websites, and I realized I had the answers. Now, I split my time between playing in my own worlds with morally fluid characters and helping writers and artists understand what their websites need.
Writing
I’m known for my non-fiction articles and profiles on businesses in the South, but I also write genre-blending fiction full of swashbuckling adventures, resilient heroines, dark secrets, and all the charms and quirks of a morally-flexible cast.
My current work in progress is a sci-fi noir heist with intention-sensing machines in a 1930s-style cityscape.
Website Guidance
Are you working on your first website to share your creative identity with the world? Wondering whether you even need one right now?
I work with writers and artists to clarify why their websites exist and how it fits into their creative life. I bring my insight and experience as a writer, web content specialist, and website manager to help my clients understand what belongs on their websites and when they’re ready to start building.

The Difference Between Suffering and Struggle in Character Arcs
I thought I understood how to avoid writing characters who are too passive. Make them do things and make choices, right? Well, Lisa Cron’s “Story Genius” made me realize it’s not that simple. But there’s something very familiar about what a character needs to have a satisfying and compelling arc.
A (Nearly) Finished Draft & Newsletter Experiments
After months of struggling, I found writing by hand was the secret to finishing Project Thieves. That and prioritizing actual writing instead of blogging while I balance client work with website updates. It’s a lot, but exciting things are happening.
