Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what I should read next. I love books from the sort of 20s to 40s period, both English and American (although maybe with a slight preference for English... don't hold me to that). I've read most of the Fitzgerald canon I think, every Agatha Christie my library has, a whole lot of P G Wodehouse, a bit of Evelyn Waugh, um... what else? Oh, some Truman Capote. Some DH Lawrence. I'm sure I've read more but I can't think of any right now. But this is just to give you an idea of what I like. I'm reading Howard's End at the moment, and I'm loving it, but I've nearly finished. Sometimes I just feel overwhelmed at the number of books there are out there! How can one person really get through them all?
So, any recommendations? I was also thinking, if people were interested, we could start a kind of book group as one of the table's activities. Sorry GG, this is totally taking over your community. I guess there are about a million book groups on LJ, and probably a couple focusing on this period, but, well, I like the sound of you guys. And of course we can discuss plenty of things beside books.
Would anyone be into that?
