Let us acknowledge Violet Mosse-Brown as the World’s Oldest Living Person as acknowledged by the Guinness World Book of Records on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017.
Violet Mosse-Brown is the Jamaica and the World’s oldest person.
Aunt V, as she is affectionately called, is a native of Duanvale, Trelawny, Jamaica W.I. She lived there all her life which spans over a century. We celebrated her 115th birthday on March 15th, 2015 at the Glistening Waters Restaurant and Marina in Falmouth Ja, WI. We also celebrated her 117th birthday on March 11th, 2017.
The Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, has sent her a plaque of recognition for reaching this phenomenal milestone. She is the last living subject of Queen Victoria. She made history for being the oldest living person with the oldest living child. Sadly her son Harland, passed away in April, 2017.
The World Genealogy Research Group, are consultants for the Guinness World Book of Records since the year 2000. The organization adjudicates and authenticates documents of the world’s oldest persons and identifies candidates for the title. Aunt V was identified and recognized as Jamaica’s oldest person, by Mr. Robert Young, Senior Data Base Administrator and Director of the Super Centenarian Department of the World Genealogy Research Group. She received a plaque during her 115th Birthday ceremony presented to her by Mr. Young, who traveled from Atlanta, GA, USA to Jamaica to attend this special celebration.
Whenever she is asked about what has contributed to her longevity she proudly says “My faith in serving God, and believing strongly in the teaching of the bible.
“She is especially fond of the part of the scripture in the Bible that says honor your parents that your days on this earth may be long“.
