    People DECIDE to quit using drugs or alcohol or gambling when the cost of use (in every way) becomes higher than the pleasure they get. Addiction is a choice. Not a disease. No one knows this better than people who’ve quit. A 12-figure industry depends on hiding this truth.

    No, the fee is part of their employment cost, and they would receive it in a free market. That's why the baseball players' union forced major league teams to cap transfer fees (called "posting fees") on players from Japan.

    Question for soccer X: What's with these transfer fees? The fees are MULTIPLES of annual salaries. Why don't star players just let contracts expire, become free agents, and sign with the highest bidder? I have never understood this or seen a good explanation, and I've looked.
