[edit]linux.conf.au (LCA) is being held in Wellington on 18-23 January 2010. Proposed date for wiki event: January 16 or 17 2010.
Should we have a low-key "meet-up" only or aim for something a bit bigger - a BarCamp/unconference style event?
Who is a local that can help organise a venue?
Last minute organising begins (Monday 18th)
[edit]I am currently in Europe but will be back on the 10th. Following comments below, are we all happier with the evening of the 18th (Monday, first day of conference, with no other clashing events) for the meetup or would we prefer completely after the conference (pending conference attendees departure times/dates)? If there has not been significant protest, I will book us a room/table somewhere with beer and coffee by the 10th. The format will run something along the lines of: meet, drink beer/coffee, chat (don't think we need anything anymore sophisticated than that). Lanma726 (talk) 15:59, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

After calling around, it seems most places in town no longer take bookings unless we want a private room (which costs). I figure there will be approximately 6 of us, so this seems superfluous. Thus, we will go with the Southern Cross at 6pm which has a large garden bar and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating (so we'll get a table for sure). - pfctdayelise (talk) - well, despite proposing this meetup, I went and booked the Overlander train on the 17th, so I would only be able to make a meetup if it follows LCA, not precedes it. D'oh...
- Benjamin Mako Hill - I would absolutely love to come and will absolutely not arrive until the morning of the 19th. Whoops! If there's smaller and less vigorously organized pub night some time during LCA, I'd be thrilled to participate. Just leave a message on my talk page.
