Canadian ethnicity

About your line "English-speaking Canadians whose families have lived in Canada for many generations in the eastern provinces (especially in the Atlantic provinces) tend to identify more with the Canadian ethnic identity than in other parts of the country who will most often identify with their European ethnic ancestry" is not really correct.

Even in Atlantic provinces, European ethnic identity is still more prevalent than Canadian ethnic identity. All of the primarily "ethnic Canadian" regions of New Brunswick are actually French-speaking, NOT English. It is only two English census divisions (one in Newfoundland and one in Nova Scotia) where Canadian is most popular. The problem is your phrase states that it is only in other (non-Atlantic) parts of the country where European ethnic ancestry is most popular, which is not true. Newfoundland is the sole Anglo exception in having an abnormally high percentage. But Anglo Eastern Ontario and even rural Alberta has as much ethnic Canadian identity as Atlantic Canada, if we exclude French parts of New Brunswick, and again, Newfoundland alone.

The page only needs to state that English-speakers are much less likely to identify Canadian ethnicity than French-speakers. Also, apart from the information itself, the edit you are trying to add is a word salad. Too lengthy and unclear. Sabuskii (talk) 17:38, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
