Nerdist edit

In reference to this edit here.

To my shock, Nerdist Industries actually is considering usable per WP:VG/S. Or at least, 2 editors supported their use in the discussion linked there. That said, there are still issues here. The article still doesn't source the edit appropriately.

  1. The change suggests that they criticize Pratt's role because he's different from Charles Martinet, but the article doesn't even mention Charles by name.
  2. Nerdist makes no real assertion at all, they're more or less just regurgitating social media comments; an article that's documenting "Twitters greatest zingers" or whatever isn't really a great source for writing encyclopedic content.
  3. As I've pointed out, the edit keeps adding the accusation of "stunt casting" without any sourcing. That's personal editorialization if you don't provide a source for it.

Please stop re-adding. Sergecross73 msg me 15:50, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying. Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 15:56, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
No problem. Sorry if I was harsh in the edit summary, I at first thought it was the same person repeatedly adding it. Sergecross73 msg me 16:26, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

mario's strange facts

First pointed out by the youtube channel Game Theory, in the prequel to donkey kong mario forces dk to juggle pineapples and fire.

Mario's father may be jumpman from donkey kong.

Fishbone can cannonicly drive. 73.142.211.64 (talk) 00:22, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

Entertaining stuff, but I'm not sure there's anything of encyclopedic value here, nor are YouTubers considered usable sources on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 00:37, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

Requested move 25 November 2025

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. WP:SNOW closure; the proposed title does not follow any proper naming convention and consensus is universally against it. Previous discussions have determined that Mario the character is the primary topic for "Mario". (non-admin closure) Thanks, Glasspalace (talk | contribs) 01:47, 26 November 2025 (UTC)

MarioMario from Nintendo – Many people often use the formula (CHARACTER) from (FRANCHISE/COMPANY), so I think this would be a good name for this page. If anything, maybe Mario from Super Mario would work, too. ~2025-36361-58 (talk) 15:38, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Additional comment: Why doesn't Wikipedia name their articles (CHARACTER/THING) from (FRANCHISE/COMPANY)? For instance. "John Doe from The Show" would just be "John Doe (The Show)" instead titled on WP, but I prefer it as "John Doe from The Show". What's wrong with the "(CHARACTER/THING) from (FRANCHISE/COMPANY)" formula? ~2025-36361-58 (talk) 16:42, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Another example: "Anonymous (The New Movie Coming Out Today)", but I think it should be titled "Anonymous from The New Movie Coming Out Today". ~2025-36361-58 (talk) 16:44, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
See WP:AT for guidance on article titling on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 19:49, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

"Younger twin brother"

@Sergecross73: Citation: page 2:

No doubt due to the limited hardware resources, the second players sprite was simply Mario with red swapped out for green, though Nintendo was quick to define the second plumber as more than Mario #2. This was Luigi, Marios twin brother, and his equal when it came to killing turtles in New York City sewers.

(emphasis mine)

This is actually already in the article under Mario#Relationships, where it says Luigi is Mario's younger fraternal twin brother, who is taller, slimmer, and can jump higher than him.[1][2] (emphasis mine) So I'm not sure why you've been removing it from the lead. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 03:42, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Also, this has been discussed before. So long as both "younger" and "twin" are referenced, we can include both. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 03:48, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
Nevermind, go for it. It's one of those things that are tinkered with so much that I forgot which version was supported by reliable sources. Sergecross73 msg me 03:51, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Mario Mario

Yes, its technically official/occasionally used (see the "Name" subsection) , but considering 99.99% of the time just "Mario" is used, I do not believe it should be mentioned so prominently in the lead. Or anywhere in the lead. Its just a little bit of trivia. Sergecross73 msg me 15:51, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
