Formyl-CoA transferase (EC 2.8.3.16) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction
The two substrates of this enzyme characterised from Oxalobacter formigenes are oxalic acid and formyl-CoA. Its products are oxalyl-CoA and formic acid.[1][2] The kinetics and mechanism of the reaction have been studied.[3][4]
This enzyme is a transferase, specifically a CoA-transferases. The systematic name of this enzyme class is formyl-CoA:oxalate CoA-transferase. Other names in common use include formyl-coenzyme A transferase, and formyl-CoA oxalate CoA-transferase.[5]
Structural studies
