Anglistik publishes articles on the entire range of English Studies, covering linguistics and literary studies as well as language, literature and culture pedagogy. A special concern of this journal is to introduce the reader to innovative questions and new research developments. A book review section presents new publications from all fields of English Studies.

Anglistik is published triannually (Spring, Summer, and Winter) on behalf of Deutscher Anglistikverband e.V., the German Association for the Study of English. All issues published since 2012 are available digitally via open access.

Anglistik is committed to publishing work that is not predominantly or exclusively generated by AI tools and edits without the support of generative AI. By submitting their work, authors confirm that their contributions are personal intellectual creations within the meaning of Section 2 (2) of the German Copyright Act (UrhG) and that they bear full responsibility for the accuracy of their submissions. The authors are solely responsible for all content and compliance with all copyright and personal rights and data protection regulations. The reviewers also confirm that no AI was used in the peer review process.

The journal was founded in 1989 by Rüdiger Ahrens, who edited it until 2001 with the support of Heinz Antor. From 2002 to 2025, Heinz Antor served as editor-in-chief of the journal, and since 2019 he has been joined by Julia Hoydis. Since 2026, Anglistik has been edited by Julia Hoydis (editor-in-chief, literary and cultural studies), Roman Bartosch (editor of language, literature and culture pedagogy), Sarah Buschfeld (editor of linguistics) and Irmtraud Huber (editor of book reviews, literary and cultural studies).
