User search not working anymore (too many user?)

Since we have more than 8000 Users the plugin stoppt working.. you not able to use the searchbar for accessing a user.
it doesn’t come with any update – suddently it stopped. on our other system (much less user/customor) it works.
please help .. i have no idea!

Sorry for my late reply, I just came back from holiday.
There is a query limit in place for user results, however, this was only applied for installations where AJAX search wasn’t enabled/required.
Since you 8000+ users your only option is AJAX and there it didn’t limit the results.
I’ve made a patch to also limit the AJAX results to 100 max:
