Hi there, Im trying to use various custom post type ordering plugins to drag & drop the listings in whatever order I want but they have no effect. I need them ordered in a specific way, not by title, reviews etc

    ok thanks

You can also add the sorting custom field to the Quick Edit panel to speed things up when entering values. However, if you don’t use this often, it’s probably unnecessary, editing the post and filling the custom sort field directly works just fine.

Hi Rachid, i tried this but its not working. I am using elementro with the GD Listings widget placed in the archive template. I selected the custom field under the sorting options in the widget settings but sits just displaying randomly.

GD Listings widget placed in the archive template is probably what’s causing the problem, you should use the GD Loop and sorting should be set up from the Sorting tab of your CPT settings.

    Thanks

Using a text field for a number is correct. Just make sure the data type is set to Number. To do that, click the Show Advanced button in the field settings.

    Also enable:
Posts sort options > Include this field in sorting options

Next, add sorting numbers to each listing. If you have many listings, the easiest way is Export > edit the CSV > Import to update them.

I added it to three listings using high numbers (10, 9, 8) and sorted them descending for convenience.
Cucina e Vino #10, Gusteau #9, and Burger Factory #8.
You should sort ascending and assign 1 to the first listing, 2 to the second, and so on.

Then go to Places > Settings and open the Sorting tab. Add your new field at the top, and enable Is active and Default sort.

I used descending for convenience, but you should use ascending.

If everything is set correctly and your archive page uses the GD Loop widget, not the GD Listing widget, the custom sorting should already work on your Places page.

This was done with Elementor, same as your setup.

If it still does not work, you may be trying something different or another plugin is overriding the sorting.

If this is your setup, please reply with screenshots of your settings like I did. If you are trying something else, please open a ticket here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support so I can assign it to a developer.

    Let us know.

    Thanks
