💡 Bring all your related work together with projects in the GitHub Copilot app. Give Copilot a goal and it will coordinate the work. Your project can span one or more repos or focus on tasks that don't require one. Copilot can start sessions, set up recurring automations, or create artifacts; they'll show up in your project. 🗂️ Keep your sessions together to work toward one objective. AI made writing code faster. Now the challenge is making that speed deliver value. Join Shailaja K. Shankar, Matthew L., and Andrea Griffiths for a conversation recorded live at GitHub Universe '26 on moving from token maxing to value maxing.

GitHub’s new architecture separates storage from compute and limits coordination to reference updates. Virtual replicas serve reads and writes, while separate nodes handle compaction in the background. In internal testing, the architecture supported 5,000 concurrent agents and 7,200 pushes per second to one repository while serving reads with consistently low latency. We detail the requirements behind the design, follow a request through the system, and explain two essential components to achieve these results. https://lnkd.in/eFfR3Zde

What's the best way to learn? Give yourself permission to play, but time-box it. In our latest episode of the GitHub Podcast, Martin Woodward discusses how AI is changing open source, developer skills, and the joy of building things. Confession: I’ve scrolled past dozens of comments on a pull request just to figure out why I couldn’t merge it. More times than I’d like to admit. Agents have made this a lot worse. They push commits and leave review comments of their own, and all of it lands in the timeline. PR timelines have gotten dramatically noisier, and the few things you actually need to know are harder to find. My team has started rethinking the foundations of the pull request experience around one question. What do you need to know right now? Today the first piece of that went into public preview, and I’m proud of what the team shipped. The new Overview page moves a readiness summary to the top of the PR. Checks, comments, and approvals fit in less than half the space the old merge box took. From there you can jump straight to a failing check or see who still needs to approve, then update your branch and merge without hunting for anything. An activity summary in the corner catches you up on review comments and review requests. You can also filter the conversation to unresolved threads or just your own comments. It’s opt-in, rolling out through the weekend, and you can switch back to the classic view anytime during the preview. This is a much-needed start, and there’s a lot more coming as we modernize pull requests for the way software gets built now. We opened the preview early on purpose. If you try it on your next PR, we’d love to hear where it still falls short. https://lnkd.in/gAfuJN55 #DeveloperTools #SoftwareEngineering #CodeReview

Instead of picking the model for each and every task, let Copilot Fusion route and orchestrate which model to use. ✅ Copilot Fusion balances performance and cost efficiency, picking from three execution patterns for the job: Single, Cascade, or Critique. All you need to do is choose the effort level. Try it in the GitHub Copilot app, Copilot CLI, and Visual Studio Code, now 30% off through November 30.

Makerspace + Hack the Badge = two of my favourite activities at #GitHubUniverse! 🚀 Couldn't stop hacking when I got home. Now I can control the Octolamp from my conference badge over my home network. The fun doesn't end when the conference is over! GitHub

Ali joins us to talk about pgmq, a lightweight message queue tool similar to AWS SQS and RSMQ but on Postgres. We'll take a look at how to get started with the project and what it's like to be an OSS maintainer.
