International Inuit Day - November 7

Today we honor International Inuit Day, celebrating the rich culture, timeless wisdom, and enduring strength of Inuit across Inuit Nunangat and the globe. We recognize their profound connection to the land, ocean, and alongside their vital contributions to northern governance and environmental stewardship.

May we continue to uplift Inuit voices, safeguard language and traditions, and support strong, self-determined Arctic communities.

Indigenous Veterans Day - November 8

For generations, Indigenous peoples served with extraordinary bravery and skill—from the World Wars to modern peacekeeping—often while facing severe systemic discrimination at home.

Today, we honour their memories and lived experiences, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who returned to confront disenfranchisement.

Their unwavering dedication to protecting our lands and communities will never be forgotten.

The Office of Indigenous Engagement and ii' taa'poh'to'p guide UCalgary on its path of transformation, and communicate its commitment and responsibility for truth and reconciliation.

Let us move forward with promise, hope and caring for the sake of those children not yet born, seven generations into the future.
