I joined the Posit PBC Data Science Lab session on data visualization, led by Dr. Nicola Rennie. It was genuinely eye-opening.👀 Her approach to building elegant, reproducible visualizations is incredibly thoughtful. I left inspired. Using her code as a foundation, I experimented with Japanese-inspired themes, color palettes, and design sensibilities. The process taught me a lot about both the technical and creative sides of data viz. Highly recommend her resources if you're into R and data visualization. She shares the codes on her website as well. https://lnkd.in/eTcMZaGa #RStats #DataViz #POSIT #DSLab Typo: ❌"Twined City" ✅"Twinned Cities"

Code generation is converging to free, so why isn't the software getting better? Wes McKinney, Principal Architect at Posit PBC, GP at Composed Ventures (+ creator of pandas, co-creator of Apache Arrow) is taking the main stage with "The Mythical Agent-Month" - a fifty-years-later callback to Fred Brooks. Brooks said adding manpower to a late project makes it later. Wes is here to ask what adding agents does.

  • 🎉 Big news: Posit Connect is now Generally Available in the Posit Team Snowflake Native App, and Posit Package Manager is entering Public Preview. This is a major milestone for data scientists working inside Snowflake. Publish and share your full stack of data products, Shiny apps, Quarto docs, Jupyter notebooks, Streamlit apps, Plumber APIs, and more, all within your secure Snowflake environment. No data movement. No separate infrastructure. We’re also proud to announce that Posit Package Manager is in Public Preview on the Posit Team Native App! Open-source R and Python packages power modern data science, but they can bring security, compliance, and reproducibility challenges that grow with every team and project. Package Manager solves these problems by providing curated R and Python package repositories, VS Code extension repos, vulnerability reporting, and much more. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gExwPMpb And the best part? You can try it right now. Download the Posit Team Native App and start a 30-day free trial of Posit Workbench and Posit Connect. ➡ https://lnkd.in/gKETinnc Your data science workflow just got a serious upgrade. 🚀 Snowflake Partner Network

  • What does it look like when AI-powered data science meets people analytics at scale? Pinterest's People Analytics team analyzed 30,000+ employee comments securely, inside the Snowflake AI Data Cloud without moving sensitive data outside their governed environment. As Trevor Fry put it, Posit Workbench in Snowflake unlocked new levels of efficiency while reinforcing their commitment to secure, scalable data practices. This is exactly the kind of work we'll be talking about at Snowflake Summit. Come find us at Booth #2804. ➡ Read the full Pinterest story: https://lnkd.in/gi9ahmZ9 🚀 Meet our team at Snowflake Summit: https://lnkd.in/g45xJGnd Snowflake Partner Network #SnowflakeSummit #DataScience #Posit #SnowflakeAIDataCloud

  • Agentic AI is not a future trend. It's happening now, and the stack you build today will define your results tomorrow. 🚀 We're joining Snowflake for "AI in Action: Architect the Agentic Tech Stack" on May 27, alongside leading data and AI partners. Posit's Nick Pelikan will demo live how Posit tools run natively inside Snowflake, including how to create predictive models with agent tool calls using Snowflake Cortex, and how the Orbital package translates R and Python models into native Snowflake. Learn how one team cut their model pipeline from over two hours to 24 seconds! ⚡ You'll also get practical tips to build a modern agentic tech stack that connects your data, decision intelligence, and user interfaces into AI-driven solutions. • Announcing Quarto 1.9: Enhanced Typst Support for Books and Article Layouts Quarto 1.9 introduces significant updates to our integration with Typst, the high-performance typesetting system designed as a modern alternative to LaTeX! • You can now render a project of `type: book` using the Typst format. This includes full support for parts, chapters, appendices, and automated cross-referencing, all within a lightning-fast rendering pipeline. • All Quarto article layout features are now functional in Typst via the Marginalia package. This includes placing figures, tables, code listings, and citations in the document margins to create clean, readable, and professional layouts. • Quarto 1.9 introduces typst-gather to improve reliability in restricted or offline environments. This tool bundles and caches necessary Typst packages locally, ensuring your documents render consistently without requiring active network access. • The new default Typst book uses the orange-book extension, which supports brand.yml. This allows you to automatically apply your organization's primary colors and logos to your publications. Learn more about Quarto 1.9 and the new Typst capabilities: https://lnkd.in/gv7sgBAm
