About us
To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn't have one global Internet. ICANN was formed in 1998. It is a nonprofit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It helps promote competition and develop policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers. ICANN doesn’t control content on the Internet. It cannot stop spam and it doesn’t deal with access to the Internet. But through its coordination role of the Internet’s naming system, it does have an important impact on the expansion and evolution of the Internet.

Görüşmede; dijitalleşme, yeni nesil haberleşme ve yapay zeka odaklı regülasyon başlıklarına dair son gelişmeleri paylaşarak, stratejik değerlendirmelerde bulunduk. Küresel dijital ekosistemin yönetiminde kritik rol oynayan bu görüşmelerin, sektörümüz için hayırlı olmasını diliyorum. - Bilateral Meeting with ICANN Within the scope of the #ITUGSR-26 program, we continued our bilateral meetings with ICANN. We held discussions with ICANN Vice President and Managing Director for Stakeholder Engagement in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), Baher Esmat, and ICANN Head of Government Engagement, Janis Karklins, regarding the #GSR-26 event. During the meeting, we shared recent developments and conducted strategic assessments on topics related to digitalization, next-generation communications, and artificial intelligence-focused regulation. We wish these meetings, which play a critical role in the governance of the global digital ecosystem, to be beneficial for our sector.
