What is Tableau?
So let's take a look at what Tableau is and why it is so popular. To start out, just a little background about Tableau, it was founded in 2003 with the simple purpose of simplifying data visualization. That is it. And back in 2003, there were not a lot of great options. There were some other ones out there, but there weren't a lot of great drag and drop, easy to use options for visualizing data. And so Tableau really came out of the gate with this easy to use product and it became really, really popular. And even 20 years later, Tableau is still one of the market leaders for BI tools. Now the version of Tableau that we're going to be using for most of this course is Tableau Public.
