Dress for it, folks -- The Husband, Weston Ochse, and I will be signing books tomorrow at this Barnes and Noble in Phoenix, Arizona. He'll be signing EMPIRE OF SALT (a freaking awesome zombie novel), and I will be signing both HIGHBORN and CONCRETE SAVIOR (yes -- it's now out and available!).

And, wait for it... wait for it...

This is the same mall where Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was filmed and all the employees are going to be dressed up as zombies. How much fun is that? They'll be contests and fun and all that hoopla, so I repeat: Dress for it and come on down!

There will be books (HIGHBORN by me, and EMPIRE OF SALT by The Husband, Weston Ochse). There will be a Zombie Costume Contest (judged by none other than little old us). There will be Zombie Drinks and a Zombie Snack offered in the Cafe-- who can resist things like Zombie Blood, Graveyard Dirt, Ghostly Mist and The Cure? After all this time, my first novel, AfterAge, is now available again from Crossroad Press. You can pick it up in Kindle format on Amazon, and there are other formats available here on the Crossroad site. AfterAge was a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award in the First Novel category and most people really liked it, although for some reason most of the reviews seem to have disappeared off Amazon. There's a big ol' excerpt right here, which links to yet another excerpt, so you can try out a nice chunk first to see if you like it. :o)

I know. I'm dull. I'm boring. I'm too quiet. But wait -- I'm yapping away over on Facebook. Alas, I have to admit that it's easier to just type in a sentence or two now and then instead of going through the entire "post an entry" thing. Sorry!

So a quick update. Sent off CONCRETE SAVIOR to my editor on September 26th. Got a message yesterday...

The publication date was moved up to June 2011! Wow -- I guess that means she likes it, right? :)

For folks toddling around Tucson, Arizona today at RinCon, check out my website -- www.yvonnenavarro.com -- for my schedule. Weston Ochse and I will be there doing a couple of panels and a signing before zipping back home to tend to the three Great Danes. I think most everyone knows by now that in a week long "moment" of sheer insanity, we drove 4,000 miles to North Carolina at the end of June and adopted a blind Great Dane puppy. So now we have Goblin, The Ghost, and Ghoulie. Pictures of this mass insanity are available on FB.

And happiest birthday ever to my super friend, weezlgrrrl !

... of my mother, who died 5 years ago today. We didn't get along very well for the last too-many years before her death, but I still miss her just the same.

This is a pretty old picture -- I think I might have been about 19 at the time. It's a good memory, taken back when life was good for Mom and things between us were good, too.

Tucson Festival of Books Schedule - This Weekend!

Wes and I will be at the Tucson Festival of Books this weekend. Here's our schedule:

Sat. March 13
2:30 pm Vampires That Don't Sparkle (a horror panel) with Jeff Mariotte and Weston Ochse

Sun. March 14
10:00 am Signing -- Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore tent.
2:30 pm Married to an Author with Will Shetterly, Emma Bull, and Weston Ochse.*

*What's that asterisk, you ask? (Of course you asked. Who wouldn't?) Well, last year Wes was scheduled to be at the Book Festival but missed it because of a last minute work-required trip to Romania. We thought we had this all cleared this year. Then Murphy stepped in and decided to send Wes to, you guessed it, Romania again. This time Wes will make it Saturday, so he'll be on the vampire panel. But will he be on the Married to an Author panel with me, his wife, the one to whom he's married? Oh, noooooo.

Oh, YES. Since he's going to be off galavanting around some European country, I've decided to bring myself a Husband On A Stick. Don't know what that means? Think "Jeff Dunham." Still can't figure it out? That's what Google's for. And pictures. Yeah, there will be pictures.
