First of all, I will be moving over to a community, chronophages, shortly. Once I defeat the beast that is S2CSS I'll start moving things over.

I used PS7, and I assume you can use PS7 or newer to get this effect.

1. Start off with your base:

2. When in full size, I found that the original image was a bit special looking, so I used auto contrast on it.
Here it is auto contrasted (not that you can tell when it's shrunken down to this size. This step is probably optional depending on what your base image looks like.)

3. Next it's time for some sexy curves. I used:
RGB
1. Input: 165 / Output: 164
2. Input: 75 / Output: 80
RED
1. Input: 134/ Output: 117
2. Input: 68/ Output: 62
GREEN
Didn't do jack shit for this. Input and output should both read 255.
BLUE
1. Input: 132 / Output: 134

The result should be this:

Looking better, but he's still a little jaundiced. Depending on how your base looks, you may want to tweak the curves layer around a bit, especially in the reds and blues so that you don't get certain areas that look teal. The goal is not to make the image look like it was processed in photoshop, but like it hasn't been sitting around for a good 30 years.

4. Now make a selective color layer. This is what I did:
REDS
-3, +3, -2, -10
YELLOWS
0, 0, -6, -3
WHITES
0, 0, -10, 0
BLACKS
-1, 0, 0, 0

Tadaa! Now Jaymz doesn't look like ~~a guido~~ he's suffering from liver issues anymore! The end result is the [slight] difference between "urrrgh" and "oh hay, that's not so eyeblinding."

I've found that only relatively yellow images can be pasted directly into this tutorial (if you can even call it that) and have it come out looking decent. Other aged photos will need to be tweaked and leveled on a case by case basis.

Now that he's not a weirdly over-saturated yellow color, you can go and do whatever the hell you like to the image.

People keep asking me to make a tutorial. So I did. Except it's not a tutorial that anybody wants. AHAHAHAHAHA.
I don't even know why I posted this section. Really.

desaturated - I hope this is desaturated enough? I desaturated the whole image and then added the eyes back in.
original - what looks like textures is actually part of the image set at different filters and opacities. I also changed the color balance and saturation in certain areas.
destroy - This is technically 100x100, but the area around Dante's head is transparent. I left it at 100x100 so that it wouldn't sit funny when used, like so many non-100x100 icons do.
