Johann Reinhold Forster was a pastor and naturalist, who accompanied James Cook on his second Pacific voyage. A comprehensive biography in German language can be found in Dove (1878). His son was the naturalist, ethnologist and revolutionary Georg Forster.

Johann Reinhold was born in 1729. He was the son of Georg Forster and Eva, née Wolff. He passed away in 1798.
