Dear community, I am Jianhui67 and I am here to put forth my application as a Wikidata oversighter. Before writing this application, I had asked for advice from the existing team, and they said that while the current workload is manageable, more help would be appreciated. Hence, I would like to offer my assistance.

At present, we have four oversighters on Wikidata, and while four might seem sufficient, we are currently missing an oversighter from the Asian timezone. As such, I hope to be able to fill this gap and provide extra coverage during the times when existing oversighters might not be available to deal with oversight requests, in turn lightening their workload and hedging against the risk of non-public information lingering longer than expected. I am based in Asia and I have a near-native understanding of Mandarin Chinese, and intermediate knowledge of Japanese and Malay. Hope that my language skills will benefit the existing team.

I have read and familiarised myself with WMF's privacy policy, and I pledge to comply with the privacy policy when making suppressions. Apart from this, I just signed WMF's confidentiality agreement. I am aware that my name is not inside the noticeboard now. Hence, I will make an update when my name is added into the noticeboard.

If elected, I would like to assist with oversight requests made to oversight-wikidata VRT queue and the Wikidata oversight email account. While I have made revision and log deletions myself on Commons, Wikidata and Meta in my capacity as an administrator, and have made a few oversight requests to the oversighter team on these three wikis before, I admit that I do not have any experience as an advanced functionary, nor have I dealt with oversight requests before. Hence, I will give myself time to get used to the role and whenever I am in doubt, I will consult with the existing team before taking action.   • Withdrawn: After some serious deliberation, I have decided to withdraw this nomination. I have applied for the oversighter role in hopes of providing extra coverage and easing the workload of the existing team. If the community deems that I may not be best suited for the oversighter role, I am willing to accept that. Me withdrawing is not running away from my issues, but acknowledging my shortcomings and respecting the community's wishes. There are many other areas that require my assistance, and I am willing to pour my time and effort into those areas.
A sincere thank you to the people who supported my nomination, and the trust you all have placed in me. I'm sorry that the nomination ended this way, but as promised below, I will make appropriate decisions based on WMF policies, and be careful with what I say and do from now on. Thank you also to Jasper Deng for raising your concerns; I will make sure that I do a better job with my words and actions on Wikimedia platforms.     Hello, thank you for raising your concerns. As far as I can recall, we indeed had a disagreement on LGBTQ in IRC private message about a decade ago. I just want to say that I'm not here to disparage anyone, incite conflicts or anything, and I will not let my personal views affect my decision making process. If my comment from years ago offended you or anything, I sincerely apologise for that. I will also take full responsibility for what I do and say from now on.     Hello, thank you for your question. I do not wish to share much about my personal views onwiki, but I am a Christian. Nonetheless, my wiki identity is kept separate from my IRL personal identity, and I abide by WMF's universal code of conduct when editing Wikimedia projects.     If I had forced my views on others last time, I am very sorry about that. As far as I try to recall what happened last time, I only remembered having a disagreement with you on this issue before, but I do not remember the exact details of what happened. I was indeed adamant on religious views last time, but as time passed by I grew tolerant of different views and perspectives, and learnt to accept views which are different from mine. I apologise for my past actions, and as mentioned above, I will not let my personal views affect my wiki editing and onwiki decision making process. When Jasper says "anti-LGBTQIA+ views" he makes it sound like they are some kind of activist, while the statement is actually pretty vague. Did they say anything that is outside of what would be considered normal and expected for a religious person? Specifically anything outright hateful and not just within the insensitive realm. Because last time I checked the same rules that protect various minorities also apply to religious people; and so we should be careful not to discriminate if this is purely based on religious views. I can't remember seing any RFPs being rejected because the person was a muslim, but there are some commonalities between the abrahamic religions when it comes to views on intimate relations. Do you have any credible suspicions that they would abuse their the oversighter role? We do have their promise that they will not let personal beliefs influence any decisions they make here. He had been specifically arguing against the inclusion of homosexual people in a Wikimedia-related IRC channel of other Wikimedians. The fact that he dug in and implied that everyone was bound by his religious views crossed the line from simple religiousness to outright homophobia. I really cannot recall doing what Jasper said last time, but yes, I will take responsibility for my past actions. I was navigating my faith last time, and was kinda argumentative on religious issues back then. If I had indeed made inappropriate remarks last time, I sincerely apologise for that, and I pledge to abide by WMF's universal code of conduct and promise to make appropriate decisions based on WMF policies.
