Motivation
[edit]As a single is often taken from an album, it would seem legitimate to use this property. YotaMoteuchi (talk) 00:23, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

Neutral Isn't part of (P361) enough? Greetings! --Kdkeller (talk) 21:44, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- Most items of singles makes no effort to disinguish between single, music track, composition and music video. Having an seperate property that clarifies the relationship properly is necessary Trade (talk) 22:45, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think that part of (P361) could be used. Nevertheless, it's too general, I guess.
- I guess that an "audio track" is part of (P361) of an album (instead, a release of this album) and that a "song" is part of (P361) of an album (1). And so, a single should be a part of (P361) of an album too.
- But how to distinguish all these elements which are managing different concepts?
- Once again, if we want to have a "clean" database, we should start to use these sort of properties.
- Ideally, for "single taken from the album", we should use the subject type constraint (Q21503250) with single (Q134556) value and value-type constraint (Q21510865) with album (Q482994) value.
- (1) PS : The contrary of the quoted property for the songs is tracklist (P658) which is applying for the release group (Q108346082) instances, which is a good way to clarify this concept. The idea here is the same. YotaMoteuchi (talk) 01:01, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- "I guess that an "audio track" is part of (P361) of an album" published in (P1433) literally have an alias called "on the tracklist of" so why even bring up part of (P361)? @YotaMoteuchi:--Trade (talk) 17:11, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- If an item have multiple instance of (P31) that means there is no way to tell which of them the part of (P361) actually applies to. This new property would eliminate the issue – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Trade (talk • contribs).

Comment Well I guess I’m a bit late to the party, but that proposal did not seem particularly well defined. The three example subject do not even have the same type − #2 is a single (Q134556), #3 a musical work/composition (Q105543609), and #1 is both a single (Q134556) and a song (Q7366) − so which is it supposed to be? Jean-Fred (talk) 12:37, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Jean-Frédéric, this is because they are wrongly defined. All three exemples should be single (Q134556). YotaMoteuchi (talk) 22:58, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
