It’s not enough just to build a transportation system with options to walk, bike, take transit or ride share. People need to know how to access transportation options and understand their benefits. That’s where Metro’s Regional Travel Options program comes in.
Through grants, policy guidance, regional coordination, technical assistance and direct programming, Metro's Regional Travel Options program has been serving the region since 1996.
-
Regional Travel Options grants support efforts that increase walking, biking, ride sharing, telecommuting and public transit use.
-
Part of the Regional Travel Options program, Metro’s Safe Routes to School program provides resources for K-12 students and families to walk, roll and take transit to school.
-
Get There Portland Metro is provided by the Regional Travel Options program and partners to provide resources, tools and personalized support to employers in implementing commute benefit programs that help their employees get to work. The program is supported by the Oregon Department of Transportation and is free to any employer within Metro’s boundaries.
Getting around the region
Whether traveling for work, school, errands or fun, Metro supports partners to provide resources that help travelers find the best way for them to get around. Through grants, partnerships and technical assistance, the RTO program supports tools such as TriMet’s Trip Planner for multi-modal trip planning and Get There Oregon to assist in finding carpool, vanpool, incentive programs and more.
