Star Fox Zero is a wonderful re-imagining of one of the most beloved games in the series, blending elements from its early history in a tasteful manner. The meatier story mode leaves you with a better sense of fulfillment over its predecessors, and while there isn’t an online leaderboard to compare best times or scores, there are other extras to keep you playing. Adapting to the new controls might take more patience than some players are willing to give, but those who stick it out are rewarded with a higher-degree of precision than previously possible. It’s by no means perfect, but it’s safe to say Miyamoto’s latest experiment is a success.
Even if you can get used to the awkward controls, Star Fox Zero is merely mediocre. It’s as disappointing a major Nintendo console release as there’s been in some time.
A rather halfhearted remake of a true classic, with less focus on the story of epic teamwork than one would have expected. A frustrating release for the fans, but nonetheless a fine addition to the Wii U roster.

This was my first Star Fox game, and I almost beat the main game, but the disc got scratched, but it was fun though.

It makes a lot of sense realising that Miyamoto directed this game. It also makes more sense that this was the last console game he directed. His arcade intuitions and desire to try strange new things is reflected here; so too is his grip on the past. Star Fox has had more redos of the Andross vs Corneria story than any original stories combined. Some complain that this is one re-imagining too many. To me, though, this is in fact its definitive version; not without room for improvement in the details, but Star Fox Zero brings to life the classic story of Fox McCloud vs. Andross in a more thrilling and beautiful way than any other. For the most part, where its detractors see oddity, I see innovation; where they see reuse, I see homage and reimagination. This is not to say Zero is perfect - far from it - but it was the wrong game at the wrong time. It was released in unfavourable circumstances, on a life support console for a dormant series, and managed to be simultaneously too different and too reheated. But today, I think its execution was far better than it was allowed credit for at the time. It did not just scratch a nostalgic itch for me, it genuinely improved on a classic game I considered a foundational part of my gaming childhood. As far as I'm concerned, it's mission accomplished.

ve had this game since 2016, when it was released in a bundle with Guard. I bought the bundle and kept it in my collection because I always heard bad things about it, so I ended up forgetting about it, along with other games I never **** new Star Fox 64 remake for the Switch 2 made me want to finally try it. My God, it's bad! It's really bad!!!Sure, there are good things, like the classic sounds, the classic music, the very well-done voice acting, and the great sense of speed and **** the level design is really bad and frustrating.I won't even complain about the controls, because I got used to them, and very complicated controls can be annoying but can also be overcome if you're willing to learn **** biggest problem here is the terribly bad level ****'s not only annoying but tiring. My hands even hurt after a few **** mission in Fichina where the boss regenerates is extremely tedious because there's a very small window of time to damage the **** missile mission is awful and chaotic. One moment you're attacking missiles with a timer on the screen. Each missile takes a while to destroy because the targets are rotating and there are several enemies bothering you while you try to hit these rotating targets, all in motion. When you finally succeed, the camera suddenly changes and you're disoriented, losing control of your own ship because the perspective changes abruptly. Then you go to another mission and suddenly, in the middle of your attack, the camera abruptly changes and you lose control of the entire action because the game wants to show you something else that is also urgent. The game forces you to switch from the airwing to the chicken to destroy the drones that start attacking the Great Fox, and while this is happening, the missile approaches the target and the mission is ruined. The missions with the gyrocopter and the little robot that needs to hack some screens are another one that's terrible. There's a classic boss in the stage preceding Venom that also has several rotating targets, with a tiny window of time to hit each one, and it's almost impossible to avoid crashing into it at each stage, so the game forces you to constantly search for healing rings around the environment. Due to this long wait to hit the targets, it becomes extremely tiring to the point of hurting your hands.I know it's not a Nintendo title, but a Platinum one, but just thinking that Nintendo handed over one of its most beloved franchises to Platinum, which had a history of bad games like TMNT Mutant in Manhattan, makes me angry.Star Fox Zero is so bad that it made me understand why Microsoft canceled Scalebound. That project probably wasn't going well at **** I said before, there are good things; the sound is the best part of the game, with decent voice acting, and the graphics are good enough. If it weren't for those camera changes that disorient the player, the gameplay would be better because the controls are acceptable, although more complicated than they should **** biggest problem here is the terribly bad level design, which is more irritating than **** a short game, it's a huge shame that it's so bad and so poorly planned.

A great Wii U game. While the control scheme is unconventional, it's fitting for a game that goes out of its way to surprise you with additional modes, trophy rewards, hidden locations, and a spin-off with gameplay never before attempted within the series. Which, in a way makes sense.

I think Nintendo wanted to make another game with motion Controls for the Wii U game pad, and they Star Fox Zero their hardest, and I'll give them credit, it is really a fun game, 2 amiibo are compatible but they're really cool, the gameplay is not bad, the graphics are solid, it comes with 2 games for $59.99? Mind blowing here, that is a good deal, but in Nintendo's store (WEBSITE) you can get the games with a Fox amiibo for $24.99, that's another deal (Nintendo doesn't make these Wii U games anymore so they discount them all)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a little short and familiar, but forget Adventures, Assault, and Command, this is the Star Fox game that we should have got a long time ago.

There are plenty of nostalgic aspects present in this crisp and beautiful high-definition title, reminiscent of games gone by. At the same time it shakes things up with some drastic changes to the game play that can be too jarring for some to want to put up with, making it a bit of a black sheep to many. For those who take the time to master the play style, however, it is incredibly rewarding and satisfying.

Star Fox Zero suffers from ambition without a cause. A fun, light space shooter has been crippled by a horrible implementation of gamepad controls. [May 2016]

We Got This Covered
Star Fox Zero is a decent but unspectacular return of a once great series, and is held back by forced motion controls and some questionable level design.

Star Fox Zero is just plain rotten. An otherwise run-of-the-mill space shooter that couldn’t be content with its own mediocrity and subsequently mutilated itself in a desperate attempt to stand out.

This game is alot of fun to play i really love the controls theyre alot better and feel fresh and i found my self using the barrel roll alot more than the starfox 64 or starfox assault games. I also really loved the mission where you get to play as peppey and i was psyched to see that i get to play as him and they have alot of elements from the older starfox games like the walker mode that from what i could see was originally in starfox 2 which never came out originally until super nintendo classic but they have that feature in the game and its amazing to use. And the story is also really good in my opinion so i give the game a 10 out of 10.

I actually start liking the game. The controls didn't bothered me in the beginning, but later on you fail in missions because you get confused with the controls. This stopped me from keeping playing. So 7/10 because of the controls.

I really wanted to like this, I really did. The idea is good, the stages are well thought out and interesting but the controls sealed the deal for me. I could not get past the controls, they always felt unnatural to me and really forced in. It left a bad taste in my mouth, especially as it was the first Star Fox game I have ever played. if they are all like this, I might not play another one

This game was the biggest disappointment of the year for me. It shows how Nintendo isn't evolving in the gaming world. Things are suppose to be bigger and better looking, Star Fox Zero doesn't deliver that. Aside from the awkward and annoying controls, the game itself is extremely short, probably about 1/3 the size of the N64 version. Looking at two screens was a terrible idea that is forced on the player for this game. There is no way around it. It's so bad, and so pointless. To me it just felt like Nintendo was trying to say that the game tablet had a purpose, and maybe it could have for this game but dividing your attention between your TV and tablet isn't fun or very practical. If you want to play a great Star Fox game, stick to the snes and N64 versions. I played through Zero once just because they got my money, I didn't enjoy the experience enough to go back and play again.
