A few months ago, we proudly introduced our collaboration on the Renault 4 E‑Tech electric “Plein Sud”, showing how open-air feeling and electric mobility can come together. Now, the press feedback is in and it proves that our folding roof not only looks damn good on this great car, but delivers in real driving conditions.

You voted – here’s the result. Last week, we asked: Which was the first convertible model manufactured by #Webasto? The answer: BMW 3 Series Convertible. When the model debuted in 1986, Webasto – then operating as Edscha – developed the roof system and helped turn the idea of an open-top 3 Series into reality. This project marked the starting point for our expertise in convertible roof technologies and the beginning of a journey that continues to shape open-air driving today. Thanks for taking part and stay tuned for more stories from our history throughout this anniversary year.

Reimagining an icon as an open-air experience takes engineering precision at every detail. #Webasto developed and produces the exclusive roof system for the BRABUS 800 Cabrio - a limited-edition high-performance vehicle based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63. With over 500 components, carbon lightweight elements, and a sophisticated two-part kinematic system, the roof combines rigidity, design, and everyday usability at the highest level. Built in Velký Meder, Slovakia, it’s a great example of what specialized craftsmanship and teamwork can achieve. This project once again confirms what Webasto stands for: technical excellence, a hands-on mindset, and strong partnerships with leading players in the automotive industry.
