A unique, heart-warming romance about finding yourself and letting people in – perfect for fans of Cecelia Ahern and Kirsty Greenwood! 💕 Love is not about how it ends. It’s about choosing how to live…

Bookseller Nelly Blake has a secret. When she touches someone, she sees exactly how their love story will end. The cheating, the ghosting, the awkward letdowns in coffee shops — it’s all laid bare in vivid, unwanted visions. She’s seen every kind of romantic disaster and has concluded the safest option is to stay single forever. No touching. No dating. No love.

But after a brutal rent hike and her beloved Aunt Polly’s cancer diagnosis, Nelly is forced to take on a flatmate to make ends meet. Enter Oliver James — bestselling romance author and recently heartbroken man hiding more than just his actual name.

Then Nelly accidentally touches him… and sees nothing. No ending. No heartbreak. No clue. And that terrifies her more than anything.

As Oliver begins to believe in love again, Nelly must decide whether to keep hiding behind endings — or risk everything for a story she can’t predict.

A heartstopping romantic novel from a fresh new talent. Prepare to fall in love with Nelly and Oliver this summer!

DNF at 47%. The concept of this book seemed really intriguing and I enjoy magical realism, which I why I requested an ARC. I didn’t stop reading because I wasn’t completely uninterested in the plot, however, I just found the story to be kind of depressing and found it hard to get through because of that. One thing I thought it was really smart of the author to incorporate Aunt Polly’s plot line into the story to add a real dose of reality into the magical realism of the book. While his character may have evolved later on, I found Oliver’s character to be a bit annoying, which is another reason I had a hard time getting into the book. Readers who like magical realism should definitely give Every Time We Touch a try. This book is so different from what I usually read, so I think it just wasn’t for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Mitchell, and Boldwell Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Just sometimes, a book totally captures your heart - and, when you finally set it aside with a satisfied sigh, having loved every twist and turn of the story, all you can think is “that was just perfect”.

The premise is a really original one - Nelly can see how every individual’s love story ends with the slightest touch. Understandably - there are few happy endings - it’s made her withdraw from life, living alone with her cat, but working in a bookshop where she manages to feel relatively comfortable. But she’s struggling financially, and the only option is to rent out her spare room - to Oliver, a romantic novelist with struggles of his own. Absolutely no touching though - but when they do, for the very first time, absolutely nothing happens. But it doesn’t mean her “curse” has gone - it’s only absent where Oliver is concerned.

Their relationship starts to develop - at first he’s a total nightmare, then he shows his softer and caring side, and then they end up having to share a bed (with a barrier of pillows) after a problem with the roof. And their growing closeness makes Nelly start to question everything she believed about toxic relationships - but how can she lower her barriers when she doesn’t know how their story ends?

There’s so much more to the story - a quite wonderful supporting cast of characters all with their own stories, day-to-day life in the bookshop (endlessly entertaining…), Nelly’s relationship with the aunt who brought her up (another person for whom life isn’t going too well) and the secrets of her past. It’s a book filled with kindness and caring for others, about trust and believing in love, being brave enough to take a chance - and I adored every moment. The romance might be slow-burn, but the attraction between them was something I could really feel, with the most perfect emotional touches - and I so desperately wanted them to have their happy ending.

And the writing? The author’s such a natural storyteller, balancing perfectly the more emotional moments with the magical touches, making you care deeply for the individuals at the heart of the story - making you laugh one moment, making you want to cry the next.

It’s such an original read, just so perfectly executed - a book I really loved.

Contemporary Romance | Second-Chance Love
CW: Grief, loss, emotional trauma, references to past heartbreak

Lucy Mitchell delivers a tender, deeply emotional story about Clara and Aidan — two people who shared a powerful connection years ago, until life tore them apart. When fate brings them back together in their small hometown, old feelings rush back instantly… but so do the secrets and hurts that drove them apart.

This isn’t just a romance — it’s a beautiful story of healing, forgiveness, and learning to trust again. Clara and Aidan feel so real: flawed, relatable, and achingly human. Their chemistry is electric, but it’s their quiet, patient emotional bond that will steal your heart.

Warm, heartfelt, and full of moments that’ll make you laugh and cry, this is perfect for fans of Jill Mansell or Jenny Colgan.

If you love second-chance love stories with real depth, don’t miss this one.

This book is so much more than a standard romance; it is about the fear of getting hurt and the risks you dare to take for love. The main character, Nelly, sees how other people’s love will end by simply touching them. While reading, I honestly thought: ugh, this curse would make me hate love too. No wonder she is avoiding love like it’s the plague. The storyline just perfectly explains the walls she built around herself.

Somewhat further in the book we meet Oliver, a bestselling romance author, who is searching for a place to live/stay.
Nelly’s boss encourages Nelly to let Oliver move in with her.
Here is where the one bed trope comes peeking around the corner👀. A bed sharing arrangement is not for the weak you all! When Oliver said, “Bedsharing is becoming the highlight of my day”, you could literally pick me up off the floor! Melting! 🫠 I would have never thought that I would start loving this trope.

Nelly is fully determined to stay away from him and above all avoid being touched by him. That is until the moment they accidentally touch. Since she can remember she sees how love will end. With Oliver she sees nothing… Nothing!! It makes her head spin.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for more than an average/standard romance book with the one bed trope and a slight bit of magic.

Every Time We Touch said, hey, what if your romantic trauma came with a customer service department? Every time Nelly touches someone, she gets an unsolicited psychic PowerPoint on exactly how their love story ends, cheating, ghosting, awkward crying outside a Tesco, the full disaster package. Honestly, after witnessing that much emotional nonsense, I too would choose celibacy, oversized jumpers, and minding my business. She’s not afraid of love, she’s doing quality control.

Nelly Blake runs on two things: books and emotional self-preservation. She works in a bookshop, which already makes me trust her more than most people, but her whole life has basically been one long warning label. Since she was a kid, touching people has meant seeing how their love stories end, and spoiler alert, it is rarely “they grow old together and buy matching garden chairs.” It’s betrayal, heartbreak, disappointment, and enough bad relationship decisions to make you want to launch humanity directly into the sea.

So naturally, Nelly has decided love is a scam and she will not be participating. Honestly? Fair. If every handshake turned into front-row seats for someone else’s messy divorce, I’d also be single forever and wearing gloves like a Victorian widow. She’s guarded, stubborn, occasionally frustrating, but in a way that made sense. She’s not cynical because she’s dramatic, she’s cynical because she’s tired. There’s a difference, and I appreciated that.

Then life does what life loves to do, which is arrive with bills and emotional damage at the same time. Her rent goes up, Aunt Polly is dealing with cancer, and suddenly Nelly needs a flatmate. Enter Oliver James, romance author, recent heartbreak survivor, and one of those fictional men who is annoying because he seems like he’d quietly make you tea and remember your weird little habits. Deeply suspicious behavior.

Oliver is also carrying his own baggage, because romance novels would collapse as a genre if men simply went to therapy. He’s got heartbreak, writer’s block, and secrets, plus the added inconvenience of being the one person Nelly touches and gets absolutely nothing from. No tragic vision. No psychic warning. Just silence. Which, frankly, is way scarier. If your curse suddenly blue-screened around one man, you’d panic too.

Their relationship is a true slow burn, and I mean slow enough that I had time to pay taxes, reorganize a drawer, and reconsider several life choices while waiting for these two to kiss. But it works because the connection builds emotionally first. This isn’t insta-love, it’s mutual damage with excellent eye contact. There’s forced proximity, only one bed, and all the lovely tension of two people pretending they are definitely just being normal while absolutely not being normal.

I also really liked that the book wasn’t just obsessed with romance. Aunt Polly’s storyline gives everything more weight, and the book is quietly saying something about grief, loss, and how trying to control pain can become its own prison. Nelly isn’t just avoiding romance, she’s trying to outrun the possibility of loss altogether, which unfortunately is not how being alive works. Rude, honestly.

The found family and community stuff gave it a lot of warmth too. The bookshop setting is cozy in that dangerous way where it makes you want to quit your job and go alphabetize paperbacks for minimum wage but maximum vibes. There are side characters popping in, emotional support chaos, and that soft reminder that love is not just romance, it’s friendship, family, showing up, and letting people see you when you’d rather fake your own death.

That said, I landed at 3.5 stars because parts of it felt a little too tidy for me. Some dialogue had that polished “everyone speaks like they’ve been to therapy and rehearsed this in the mirror” energy, and I wanted a little more mess. Let somebody say the wrong thing. Let Oliver have one truly embarrassing moment. Let Nelly throw a mug. I support women’s rights, but more importantly, I support women’s wrongs.

Still, this was warm, sweet, and genuinely comforting, like if Notting Hill and One Day had a slightly magical bookshop baby. It’s got heart, a strong premise, and enough emotional honesty to keep it from tipping into syrupy nonsense. I had a good time, I cared about these idiots, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes their romance with feelings, banter, and a mild fear of human touch.

A very solid 3.5 stars from me, the kind where you finish and immediately text your friend, “You’d like this, but also these people need therapy and maybe a stronger Wi-Fi connection for all the emotional processing.”

And huge thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for handing me this ARC and personally enabling my emotional attachment to fictional people yet again.

TW: Loss of parents at a young age, cancer & treatment

(rating = 4.35)

Bookseller Nelly Blake has a gift she never asked for: with a single touch, she can see exactly how every love story ends: betrayal, heartbreak, disappointment. Determined to protect herself, she’s sworn off relationships entirely. But when financial pressure and her aunt’s illness force her to take in a flatmate, Oliver James enters her life: a guarded, recently heartbroken romance author hiding more than one secret. When Nelly touches him and sees nothing at all, it shakes everything she thought she knew and forces her to consider whether love might be worth the risk after all.

I wasn’t planning to pick up more ARCs, but this one quickly won me over. The premise felt so unique and the cover was impossible to resist. And honestly? I’m so glad I gave in. This book arrived at exactly the right time. It pulled me out of a reading slump within the first few chapters and completely held my attention until the end. It’s warm, heartfelt, and easy to read, yet it carries an emotional weight that gives the story real depth.

Nelly is such an interesting character: closed off, guarded, and shaped by what she’s seen in others. Watching her slowly open up was incredibly satisfying. Oliver was the perfect contrast: thoughtful, quietly intense, and exactly the kind of presence that disrupts her carefully controlled world. Their dynamic felt natural, and I loved seeing both of them grow. The romance is a true slow burn, but it works beautifully. The pacing allows the emotional connection to build in a way that feels genuine and earned and I didn’t mind the wait at all.

Aunt Polly’s storyline hit especially hard for me. Themes around illness and loss are always difficult, but they were handled with care and added another layer of emotional resonance to the story.

What really makes this book stand out is its heart. It’s not just about romance: it’s about learning to trust, releasing the need for control, and choosing love even without certainty.. There’s also a strong sense of found family, community, and connection that made the story feel incredibly comforting.

That said, there were a few moments where the writing and dialogue felt slightly flat or could have been more polished but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.

This is a warm, comforting, and quietly powerful story about love in all its forms. Comforting, emotional, impossible to put down, and deeply satisfying. It’s one I’d definitely recommend. And for me, this won’t be the last book I pick up from this author.

I kindly received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Boldwood Books

Every Time We Touch – Lucy Mitchell
Pub Date: 23 May 2026
This book completely stole my heart 💛✨
Every Time We Touch is one of those rare romances that feels both magical and deeply real — a story about love, fate, and the courage it takes to let someone in when you’re terrified of how it might end.
The concept alone had me hooked: Nelly can see how every love story ends with just a touch. And honestly? It’s as heartbreaking as it sounds. Watching her avoid connection to protect herself felt so raw and relatable, especially if you’ve ever been scared of getting hurt.
Then enters Oliver… and everything changes.
What I absolutely loved is how this story builds:
It’s a slow burn done perfectly 🔥
The bookshop setting is cosy, comforting, and full of charm 📚
The found family/community vibes add so much warmth
And the “only one bed” trope? Executed beautifully 👀
But what really makes this book shine is the emotional depth. It’s not just about romance — it’s about:
Learning to trust
Letting go of control
And choosing love even when there are no guarantees
Nelly’s journey is incredibly moving, and Oliver is just the kind of love interest you can’t help but root for — layered, vulnerable, and quietly swoon-worthy.
There’s also this soft thread of magic running through the story that never overwhelms — it just enhances everything, making it feel a little bit special, a little bit different.
✨ Final thoughts:
This is a heartwarming, uplifting romance with a unique twist that will make you smile, ache, and believe in love again.
Perfect for fans of:
Cecelia Ahern • magical realism romance • cosy, emotional love stories

Every Time We Touch by Lucy Mitchell

My sincere thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Every Time We Touch. I give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.

Nelly has what she calls a curse. If she touches someone, she can see how their current relationship will end. What she sees has come true every time. The few times she has tried to reach for love herself and ignore what her curse tells her ended horribly. She has given up on love for herself and after seeing so many horrible endings has decided that love is not worth the risk. Oliver has had a rough couple of years. He is a popular romance author and is in the middle of a writing slump. He has moved to a new location in hopes of finding renewal and ends up as flat mate to Nelly. Can two people who have given up on love find a way to believe in it again?

I really liked this a lot. It is one of the better romances I've read this year. I loved the UK bookstore setting where we meet different customers who also have loved and lost but find a way to step out and love again. Both Nelly and Oliver are hiding important parts of themselves, and this book is definitely a slow burn, but thankfully, they were finally ready to take a risk and reach for love. There were some serious moments, but this book is a mostly pressure free nice read. I like those, especially when they have unique aspects like this one. I will leave this review here because I don't want to give too much away. Give this one a read, I highly recommend.

Nelly has been able to see how love ends with one simple touch her whole life. After years of seeing relationships end in heartbreak she is understandably jaded, swearing off love all together. When life throws her another curve ball, Nelly finds herself needing a roommate to bring in some extra cash. Enter Oliver, romance author extraordinaire. Oliver is battling some demons and writers block and he and Nelly quickly bond over their disdain for romance.

The concept here was very sweet- I liked the magical realism aspect of it all. The stories surrounding the side characters was a lot of fun as well. I liked watching the people around Nelly fall into relationships and such around her. Despite her best efforts to advise against it.

Nelly was a very frustrating character. She was so stubborn in her beliefs and unwavering on her stance of love. While I could understand that repeatedly seeing heartbreak and people doing crappy things to each other sucks- there were lots of examples of happy love stories that she still resented because they still had to end. She definitely carried a “ I know better than you” attitude which was a touch annoying at times.

Her relationship with Oliver was a very slooooow burn, and I think the author did a good job of getting you hooked on his character. We love a man with a tragic past. Overall this was sweet and even if I didn’t jive with the FMC, I still had a good time!

Nelly has lived with what she calls a curse ever since she was nine and lost her parents. Now living with her aunt Polly, she’s kept her distance from people—literally. Every time she makes skin-to-skin contact with a stranger, she sees flashes of their future heartbreak, usually tied to betrayal and loss. It’s made her completely jaded about love, and she avoids touch as much as possible to escape the emotional fallout.

When financial struggles push her to take on a housemate, Oliver enters her life. He’s just relocated from London and seems like a practical solution—but from the very first time they touch, something is different. No visions. No flashes. Just… nothing. At first, Nelly hopes it means her curse is gone, but she soon realizes it’s only Oliver who’s immune.

As they grow closer, and as Nelly watches others around her take risks on love despite the pain it can bring, she begins to question everything she thought she knew. Maybe her “curse” isn’t entirely a bad thing. Maybe it’s even a gift.

This was a heartfelt and easy read with a unique premise. I really enjoyed watching Nelly’s growth as she slowly opens herself up to the possibility of love and reframes how she sees her ability. The romance felt natural, and Oliver was such a lovely contrast to her guarded nature.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced copy. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

When I saw the cover I was so curious, that I couldn't resist to read the summary, and subsequently the book itself.

It was a unique idea, a mostly realistic romance with a little magical twist, that made it more colourful.

When I was introduced to Nelly, the fmc, I didn't like her very much, she was sceptical about love and happily ever afters, she was judgemental and very closed off from people because of her power to see how a relationship ends with her touch. She was grumpy and a lot with a victimy attitude that was testing my patience at times.

Then came Oliver, a romance writer with a writer's block and a need of a place to live. He was annoying with his behaviour in the wee hours in the morning, that was totally different during the day, when he was sweet and caring.

But when they started confiding in each other they started to see another perspective on their lives that they haven't considered and that was a key moment, particularly for Nelly. She started developing as a character and I liked how it all progressed. Honestly, that was the one thing that made me start reading the book with more zeal up to the finish line.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the writing, but because of the character development and some of the side characters (the friends, the aunt and the cat), I'm going to give this book 3.5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Lucy Mitchell for the ARC!

This is a good romance story. The concept was intriguing. I don't think I'd like to be able to tell by touching someone how their romance will end. It's also heartbreaking that Nelly begins to live her life trying not to touch anyone. But that all changes when Oliver comes into the story.

What if one touch could reveal exactly how every relationship ends? 👀💫

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Magical Romance
Release Date: May 23, 2026

Well, this was a unique read for me. The whole idea of Nelly seeing how relationships end every time she touches someone skin-to-skin instantly hooked me. It gave me major ‘That’s So Raven’ vibes with the visions and trying to figure out what they actually mean before everything unfolds…iykyk 😂

I really liked Nelly as a main character. She felt relatable, caring, and easy to root for, especially with everything she’s juggling in her personal life. The bookstore setting was cozy, and I loved the dynamic between her and Oliver. Their chemistry had that mix of sweet, messy, frustrating, and emotional that keeps you turning the pages wanting to know what’s going to happen next.

The story also had some deeper emotional moments surrounding family, love, and uncertainty that balanced out the lighter, magical elements really well. It definitely wasn’t just a fluffy romance!!

Overall, this was a cute, emotional, slightly magical romance that kept me intrigued the whole way through. It ended better than I expected, and I’m really glad I picked it up. If you like romance with a unique twist, lovable characters, and a little bit of chaos mixed with heart, this one is worth checking out.

No touching. No dating. No love!!?

Bookseller Nelly Blake is able to see how a person’s love story will end if she simply touches them. This impacts her ability to have a relationship with anyone. When she meets Oliver James, a bestselling romance author, she touches him but sees nothing. As Oliver begins to believe in love again, Nelly must decide whether to keep hiding behind endings or risk everything for a story she can’t predict.
Nelly’s ability to see exactly how every love story will end made for such an emotional and engaging premise, and this makes it understandable that she wants to avoid relationships altogether. Oliver was a warm and vulnerable love interest, and I loved the tension created by the fact that Nelly couldn’t see his future at all. Their relationship developed naturally and had plenty of chemistry. The story also handled heavier themes like grief and illness with sensitivity, particularly through Aunt Polly’s storyline, which added a lot of heart to the book. While parts were predictable, the characters and emotional depth made this an enjoyable read overall.

This was a delightful read and I loved the premise of the story from the blurb and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. In fact it was difficult to put down.

Our protagonist is Nelly, a bookshop seller who has shied away from love and relationships due to her “curse”, she can see how people’s romantic relationships end by just one innocent touch. When romantic author James is looking for a room to rent while he tries to get over his writers block, Nelly is wary about taking him in despite needing the funds.

The relationship that develops between the two is lovely and a testament to what good people are like when getting to know each other, they learn about the other and respect them and their issues. I also loved the side story of Nelly’s unusual background and her close bond with her aunt.

The book was well written and had some lovely high and empathetic low moments with a real understanding of the characters and how they developed. I would definitely recommend this for a lovely summer read and a good but unusual romance with a twist.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Every time we touch
By lucy Mitchell

I really enjoyed reading this 💕.
The story blends romance, emotion, and a touch of magic in a way that kept me hooked from the first chapter. The concept of knowing how your story could end — and deciding whether to take the leap anyway — made the book feel both heartfelt and thought-provoking.
The characters felt genuine and relatable, and I especially loved the emotional development throughout the story. The writing style was warm, easy to read, and full of moments that made me smile as well as reflect. The magical elements added something special without taking away from the emotional depth of the plot.
This is the kind of book that leaves you thinking about fate, love, and second chances long after finishing it. Perfect for readers who enjoy uplifting romantic fiction with emotional twists and a little sparkle of magic.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Highly recommended for fans of heartfelt contemporary romance with an imaginative twist.

What a lovely story of love, loss and second chances.
When bookshop worker Penelope (known as Nelly) realises she is ‘gifted’ her life becomes difficult, she can’t tell anyone about her gift but whoever she touches unknowingly gives her a snippet of their romance future.

She lives in a flat with her housecat Lenny who is as mischievous as they can get but also very loyal. When her landlord informs her of a rent increase, Nellie plans to advertise for a flat mate but her boss has another idea and an ulterior motive aswell.

When bestselling romance author Oliver James arrives in town due to an undisclosed reason other than he has writers block - Nellie sees nothing- nothing but blankness she is unnerved as she always sees something with every person.
Then Oliver moves in with her and turns out to have a lot of baggage including not being able to handle his drink - but there is a reason for this.

Can he rekindle his love for writing again and can they cohabit long term without too many problems?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

"Every Time We Touch" is a charming and heartfelt romance with a unique premise. Nelly's ability to see how relationships end adds an intriguing twist that explores themes of love, fear, and vulnerability in a fresh way.

The story excels in its emotional core. Nelly's struggles with connection and loss feel genuine, and her journey toward opening herself up is both touching and relatable. Oliver serves as a strong counterpart, and their dynamic is warm, hopeful, and easy to root for.

The pacing of the story is steady, and while the concept is imaginative, the focus remains grounded in the characters and their growth. At times, I wished for a bit more depth regarding how Nelly’s ability works, but this did not detract from the overall experience.

Overall, this is a sweet, uplifting romance about taking risks and choosing love, even when the future is uncertain.

This is a touching five-star read. I don’t know if this one got me in the feels extra as like Aunt Polly my mum have been having treatment for breast cancer so I know how rough it is on the person and how helpless you feel watching them go through it, when you add to it the touching and seeing the heartbreak over and over, it would break even the strongest of people I’m sure. Nelly is so much stronger than she realises and it’s beautiful to watch her come to the realisation as well. Oliver was a quandary, as his story unfolds you get to know the real him and realise how much of himself, he hides. It was so well done the way that he unfolds like a flower. This is a beautiful and surprising story that will take you with it on a journey of love and friendship that you would be worse off if you missed. This is another of those special books that will stay with you long after you read.

I'm sure that if you're into those pumpkin spice cafe books that you'll like this book too. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of those kinds of books.

I loved the concept of the book and it sounded very intriguing when I first read the premise. However, the writing style was not my cup of tea. It felt as if the story was hopping from one event to the other and so much was happening at once without extensively exploring it.
I felt similarly about Nelly and Oliver’s relationship. Their characters and interactions lacked depth, which made their connection feel somewhat unconvincing to me. What I did like was that the storyline of Nelly's aunt was included since it gave her character more depth.

I think I had higher hopes for this book because the plot sounded very refreshing.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this arc.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC for review.

I chose this book as it sounded quirky and a little bit different. It definitely had elements of this, however it didn't really deliver as I expected it to.

Romance lovers will probably adore this book. I am not a huge lover of romance, but I do enjoy it usually when mixed with other elements like fantasy, or in this case magical realism.

The curse/gift that Nelly has was intriguing, however every single time it struck we had the same repeated description (flash of white light, vision, etc). Also, every single vision showed love ending in a negative way. It felt very biased, as not every ending of a relationship is painful or due to cheating or bad behavior.

Unfortunately this book just didn't really work for me, but don't be put off by my review. If you love the genre, you will probably feel completely differently 🩷

This is a romance with a little magical realism thrown in. When Nelly touches anyone she sees flashes of light followed by how that persons current romance ends. Needless to say, she's seen a lot of very negative endings and it results in her not believing in love.

The romance part is a slow-burn with Oliver, a romance writer that she ends up sharing her flat with. He's really a mess at first--but a hot mess. The evolution of their romance is messy. They both grow quite a bit during the story and both are way more likable at the end.

This book kept me going back to it to find out how everything was going to come to an end. It was entertaining, mystical, and in a way it was comforting in the end. I would definitely like to read more by this author.

Thanks to Boldwood Books for the digital copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

An ARC from Netgalley

I loved this ❤️

Nelly has a gift that feels more like a curse. When she touches people she can see how their loves end, people cheating, people leaving others, losing love ones.

She struggles to manage this gift, meaning she's never had a serious relationship of her own at the age of 33. In fact she's convinced that love isnt for her!

Oliver is a romance author, but he has writers block after being betrayed in his last relationship.

Can they learn to trust in love together?

A wonderfully heart warming tale that makes you realise that love is worth the risk! ❤️

Out on the 23rd May 26!

This was a lovely, feel-good read woven with magical elements. It briefly explored the stories of several side characters and how they each found their way to love, while following the main character’s transformation from someone who avoids physical touch and emotional connection into a person who begins to believe in love and helps others find their own happiness.

The atmosphere throughout the story was warm and comforting, making it an easy book to get lost in. While the plot was fairly simple, the gentle pacing and wholesome moments made it a very relaxing and satisfying read overall.

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Magical realism is probably my favorite genre; some of my most-treasured books fall under this umbrella. So, finding a book about a woman who sees someone's love life play out anytime she touches their skin sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat for me, mostly in pacing and tone, but that's okay! Not every book will be for everyone, and there were still parts of the story that I enjoyed. I identified a lot with Nelly's reticence for pursuing despite uncertainty, as well.

Hopefully others will love this one!

Nelly has a curse, one that rules her life, her friendships and especially her love life. Working in a bookshop is both idyllic and a constant reminder of all the trauma and heartbreak that people endure and Nelly sees it all.
When circumstances create an unexpected flat mate, Nelly has to confront that possibly not everything she thought she knew about love, or her curse, is true.
This was heartwarming and a beautifully written story with characters that felt more like friends, and the comical antics of Lennie the cat.
Perfect escapism

I was so looking forward to this after reading the premise but sadly it didn’t live up to my expectations.

It’s beautifully written but I didn’t like Nelly and actually- I didn’t like many of the characters, who were either unlikeable or unbelievable.

It was unbelievably depressing and the stories were almost all unrelieved sadness.

I wouldn’t want to put anyone off trying it. I would have liked more romance, more insight and more answers. This author is definitely worth further reading, so I’ll try her other books.

I received an ARC of Every Time We Touch from NetGalley and Boldwood Books. I liked this book, and the slow burn romance between Nelly and Oliver. This is a heartfelt, warm, romance book where the two main characters grow throughout the book together. I thought the magical realism in Every Time We Touch was done really well. I’d recommend this book if you want a slow burn romance, with forced proximity and magical realism.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this ARC.

“My gift will always be a part of me, but Oliver has shown me it’s not about the ending of love that matters, but everything in between. It’s about deciding to give love a chance and choosing to start. I have also learnt that heartbreak hurts, but it is survivable. I know now that if he had not come back into my life, I would have been okay.“ a great book about love, lost, forgiviness, heartbreak and second chances. Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the ARC. This is my honest review.
