Television and stage star Gary Wilmot climbs into the driving seat as famous inventor Caractacus Potts, in the fantasmagorical musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang showing at Birmingham Hippodrome. Gary Wilmot takes over the role of Carctacus Potts on Monday 31st July, until the end of the Birmingham run on 2nd September 2006. Brian Conley, who has been playing the role since it opened in Birmingham, flew the famous car for the last time on Saturday 29th July.

Gary joins a brilliant stage cast including Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy who plays the Child Catcher. Gary Wimot is no stranger to Birmingham Hippodrome, having starred in The Goodbye Girl and pantomime in recent years. Other stage credits include the award winning Me and My Girl and Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Oliver! when he starred as Fagin. He’s also made many appearances on television, culminating in his own show.

Brian Conley fans needn’t worry about his departure from the musical, as they’ll get another chance to see him on stage when he return to Birmingham Hippodrome as Buttons in Cinderella later in the year.
