RS 4now55 out of 5 starsDelightful pieces
Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2023I absolutely love the songs in this book! I purchased it for an intermediate student- who is about the level of Faber 4- and at first I thought these pieces were too easy. They are not. Even the easiest pieces offer such a depth of opportunity for improving technique, that while they can be learned quickly, they take time to master. And when played with the expression notated — dynamics, tempo changes, accents, etc — they are full of emotion and just plain gorgeous.
My only disappointment is that the fingering, in some places, is not what I would recommend. Things like using a thumb on Bb when a 2nd finger would do. It might be because it’s fingered for a player with small hands… I’m really not sure, but I find it cumbersome.
The songs themselves are fantastic. I always learn pieces before teaching them, and I find myself playing the entire book just because I like it so much. I go to bed with these melodies playing in my mind.
Alma has a website which has audio files of her playing these pieces. I loved hearing how she plays them.

Jonathan5 out of 5 starsAn excellent book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 3, 2023Absolutely recommended. Children will certainly be stretched by trying these pieces of music out - they are not trivial - so it is a book that will help young musicians learn. Indeed, it'll help any musician who isn't proficient to learn more about playing music. I wouldn't restrict this book to children. Apuski Duski it most certainly isn't, either in terms of the playing skill required or the audience who would benefit from this book.

The death bell tolls...5 out of 5 starsWatch this girl closely
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 8, 2023Every now and again a person comes along who can do what most of us only consider. Alma is a true talent, her pieces are wonderful and her talent deep. This is a good book to play to your piano students and then explain about the author, She is an inspiration, especially to girls who still lack role models, even today, in our world of music.
