I use Chrome and Firefox. Chrome is wher eI open personal stuff and Firefox is where I do research for work. Lately tho, Firefox has been a painin the butt. It crashes at least once a day, has become slower, some sites will not open correctly, and eats up more memory. While Chrome has its faults too, right now it's working better than Firefox, so I'm using it a bit more than usual.

Dang it! For the third time in a row, I started re-writing that long post I've been wanting to, well, post, only this time I wrote it on Word with the intention of cutting/pasting it later, and just now Word crashed and when I re-opened the program for some reason the auto-save didn't save anything! I lost it all! And I0m too tired to re-write it all *again* so yeah, no post for now.

BTW, can a dog hold a grudge, at least for a while? Because I could swear my dog was angry with me because I bathed her. Seriously, she avoided me most of the evening and ducked whenever I tried to pet her.

Wow, another earthquake, less than 48 hours after the last one. I wonder if this was an aftershock of the last one, or yet another aftershock of the one we had last April 18th. I know it's better to have several lesser quakes than one big one, but still!

Oh God, I had a cartoon moment just now... I'd just finished making tea and as I was drinking I turned to watch the TV, which I turned on just for the background noise. The show that was on, there was this guy buying ice-cream for a girl at some fancy shop, and the vendor gave them a couple of super-mini cones with a tenth of a scoop of ice-cream, and he said "that's 53 dollars" (or some other ridiculously high price, I can't remember the exact amount) and it just struck me so funny I snorted and spilled my tea all over the kitchen counter :/

WTH?

Obviously Michael Bay must still be thinking this is a Transformers movie, since I don't remember any incarnation of the turtles being like 7ft/2mt tall and have a shell of a galápagos tortoise. And why do they "dress" like they came out of the Amazons?

And don't get me started on Megan Fox As April O'Neil. Poor April lost IQ points just with her current looks.

One of the unfortunate consequences of leaving V at the kennels is that she develops separation anxiety for a while. Not when we're actually out, which I know because her pen is undisturbed when we come back, but when we're home and she's for some reason put in the pen she'll whine and push it and bite it and try to claw her way out. More unfortunately, the only way to put a stop to it is by scolding her severely, which makes me feel like an orc, but I need her to be able to stay in her pen while I'm home, as there are instances when I can't have her roaming around (such as when I'm cleaning the floors or when a visit arrives or when I'm too concentrated with work and can't keep an eye on her).

The only good thing is that I only have to do it once or twice and then she stops and stays quietly in her pen. And as the days pass she gets used to it once more and stops complaining and goes back to normal. Plus, nowadays she only stays in her pen for small intervals. Most of the time I keep her with me. But there are times when I simply can't be with her even if I want to, so sadly I have to go through this re-training period whenever we come back from a trip.

I am about to make a confession that would have people screaming "sacrilege" and burning me in effigy. It is a secret I have kept for months and months but it must now see the light of day. I don't know if I'll be able to say this to my friends and family, all of whom usually know my devotion to this aspect in my life, but at least here, I am ready to say the truth.

I did not like The Hobbit movie.

The reasons for this are long and convoluted and I have not the time to put them into words right now because I must deliver a movie tomorrow before 2pm, but I did want to point out that, even though I did not like the movie, and the things I have seen of the second have almost convinced me to skip it altogether, it doesn't mean I didn't like the soundtrack. Which is why I am happy that my exchange gift was the 2-disc soundtrack of The Hobbit. I gave my secret santa about 8 options of soundtracks I want to buy. When she revealed herself she told me that was the only one the music store had in existence. Odd, really, as I included Thor 2 and Gravity in that list, and both movies are pretty recent. But I am happy and, while I cannot listen to it right now because I am adapting my movie, I'll be sure to listen to it as soon as I can.

BTW, am I the only one here who still listens to CDs and rejects iTunes, or are there still people who haven't migrated to digital downloads?

Nazi-google and its practices

Allow me this moment to rant severely about google and its bully-like tactics to force people to use their stupid google+ accounts.

It seems it wasn't enough that they force a google account on you if you want to keep using youtube. Now, you need a google+ account if you want to access certain services. For example, replies to your comments can only be read on your plus account, you won't receive them on your youtube channel like before. That, of course, if you could actually comment, because now you have to have a plus account to comment on videos.

I don't want a plus account. I don't even want a google account, but if I delete it I delete my youtube channel too so now it's just taking up space on the web. Heck, I hadn't even used my gmail account in years (I'm surprised it's still active) and only checked it a few weeks ago when I accidentally linked my phone to it (yes, it was an accident, I was trying to get yahoo to work). Haven't checked it since.

I'm seriously considering deleting my videos and keeping my youtube account just to mark down videos I like (you don't need a channel if you don't upload, so I'm hoping that would let me delete the google account). I'm checking other video uploading sites, but they aren't as user-friendly. I don't know. I know I am not going to get a plus account, even if I can't comment on videos ever again.

Just aaargh. It infuriates me. Really infuriates me.

EDIT. I forgot to add: if you want to send feedback and/or complain, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE TO GOOGLE PLUS TO DO SO! D:

A SMALL INTERLUDE

I don't know if it's a genuine fear of mine, or if it's a product of watching to many rescue videos on youtube or what, but whenever I dream about a pet (not my V but a random pet I own ni the dream) it always dies because I forgot I had it and so forgot to feed it. So far I've "killed" a bunch of turtles, hamsters and sadly a whole group of circus animals that started killing each other for no apparent reason (that dream in particular was so gory and horrible I woke up crying). Today a dog almost joined my imaginary pet cemetery, but at the last minute I was able to nurse the pup back to health (at the beginning of the dream it was most certainly dead, but when I put it in a plastic bag to bury it, something in the dream changed and it started moving. I'm almost sure that was my subconscious refusing to have another dead animal in a dream). The rest of the dream I have forgotten, but the dead dog is still in my memory and will be for a while.

I'm assuming that Criminal Minds fans have already watched all episodes, so forgive me if I don't put this under a cut.

Ok, so yesterday one of the CM episodes I was most interested in watching finally aired: Alchemy. I'd heard that this ep had a pretty good Reid-Rossi friendship bit and I really wanted to watch it, because whenever these two actually have a friendship moment it's always awesomely cute. The episode itself was pretty much bleh, but the Reid-Rossi scenes were as great as I hoped. Except for the very end, because WTH with that weird dream sequence that was more like dreamwalking or something, only with Maeve's spirit doing the walking and Reid just being there for the ride. Anyways, one of the things I hated most about this season is how much they've dragged the whole Reid-suffers-loss-yet-again-and-can't-cope-with-it plot on and on and on, with the others being either pretty clueless (after he let them help with putting his books away, which was kinda lame, to be honest, and more like Reid letting them do it for their own peace of mind rather than his), or, in the case of Hotch, not very understanding, which is funny because, out of all of them, Hotch should be the one who understands the most, yet he's the one who gives Reid more grief about it. Hotch seems to forget he at least got the satisfaction of killing his wife's killer, while Reid had to watch the two of them die together. Not to mention how, in other episodes, they shoot unsubs for merely moving a finger but here they watched the unsub take the gun to her head and pull the trigger and none didn't even think to shoot... but I digress...

I'm a bit confused though. I checked the list of episodes and Alchemy is the 20th ep, and there are 24 episodes in total, yet AXN announced that the last episode will be aired on June 24th. But that leaves only 1 ep to be aired on June 17th (Nanny Dearest, ep 21), so what about eps 22 and 23? Or are they going to air 3 episodes on June 24?

End of dorky fannish CM-obsessive transmission.

Sorry I haven't commented in any post. I fully intended to catch up with posts yesterday but woke up feeling like crap and didn't stay long online. At first I thought it was a stomach bug or something, but turns out it's the beginnings of a cold I'm desperately trying to stave off. I still feel a bit crappy but I really have to work on Planes and I can't put it off any longer so here I am. I'll try to catch up with LJ while I work but can't promise much.

I definitely need a "sick" icon.

Geez, not even 24 hours here and V's already pulling one of her stunts. The minute I let her out of her crate she started puking all over the place. Fortunately it included what was messing her up: some pieces of white pastic she ate. I've no idea where she got them from. She was stuck to me from the moment we picked her up and I am certain she didn't get her paws on anything plastic, she only chewed up one of her rawhides and an orange ball that's still more or less intact. I know the water buckets at the training school are metal, so it wasn't that, but could she have found something in the school's garden to chew? Well, it's not the first time she's done it anyway, so by now I've learned not to worry too much as long as she's active and the puking doesn't last long. She did forgo her kibble but now she's sucking at her bone, another signal that she's feeling better.

More TV musings

So today I watched the last episode of CM's S7 for what, the fifth, sixth time? Don't mind at all, since it's one of my favourite episodes in all the show, but I wonder if this means S8 will finally be aired on open TV. I haven't seen any ads announcing it, but why else would the channel suddenly air the last episodes of S7 if not because they're finally ready to air S8? They usually start airing the season after it ends in the U.S. though, usually around May, so it would be surprising if they do start airing S8 next week or even in March. It would be nice if they did, as I would catch up faster with the show than through AXN, because channel 7 airs the show four days a week, but I doubt they will. A shame.

I've also been developing a like for Castle. The show's generally pretty fun, not too serious and not too goofy, enough action to keep me entertained and likable characters I can like without getting too involved with them. I probably won't become obsessed with it or become part of the fandom, but it's definitely the ideal show to watch while having my supper. Now if I could just remember to watch NCIS Los Angeles too...

Tomorrow I pick V up from school! I never though I'd miss her this much! I thought I'd never get used to having a dog shadowing my every move, being someone who prefers doing stuff alone, but now I miss having her by my side, even if I spend half the time telling her to stay away from my food/computer/socks.

I need my fics!

Aaargh, Criminal Minds fics keep popping up and they look good, but most are full of S8 spoilers, especially that "Zugzwang" ep, and while inevitably the gist of the ep has been spoiled for me (and isn't the show becoming repetitive screwing up Reid every chance it gets? Poor guy should be an emotional mess by now) I'd rather watch the ep before reading the fics. *sigh* We've barely reached ep 8 because of the hiatus all shows were put on during January. I don't even know why, it's not like they didn't have enough eps to air during the month. I am bored to death with the movie I'm working on right now (not that the movie is really boring, but the technical terminology I've been having to look for is killing my brain) and I really want a dose of fic. Maybe I should look for some LOTR or TMNT fic instead.

Oh, and Blake's character is the most bleh character in the history of characters. How am I supposed to feel any interest in her when she does nothing relevant during the show? When Prentiss was introduced she was given an ep to show her abilities (when she went to Guantanamo with Gideon and Reid) and she was the one worried about Reid when he was suffering form his addiction so you noticed her and felt sorry for her as well as Reid, but Blake's intro to the team was so bland, and since then nothing about her has stood out. Frakly, right now, I don't even notice her during the episode.

AAAAAHHH. I turn on the TV on Law & Order: SVU, and the first scene that fills the screen is of who I thought for one second as Emily Prentiss interviewing Cragen. I vaguely recall hearing something about Paget getting a brief role in SVU but I'd forgotten so it caught me completely off guard and, seeing as I've always wondered about a crossover between both shows, for a moment my heart skipped a few beats before logic reinserted itself in my thoughts. You get so used seeing an actor in a role that sometimes the change is hard. I already knew Christopher Meloni had left SVU and migrated to True Blood, but it was still a bit of a shock when I actually saw him (and his debut was also the last TB episode I translated before giving back the show). I remember also seeing Lola Glaudini on SVU but, since she left CM a long time ago, it actually took me a minute to figure out why she seemed familiar. Actually, it's funny that many characters that leave their shows tend to get small roles in SVU before landing more stable roles in other shows or movies. Huh.

Making an active dog do "moderate activity" is pure hell. Being a puppy doesn't help. Today I think she reached the limit of what she can do. She tried to jump on me but stopped mid-jump giving a small cry and sat down looking at me with her "please cuddle me" look. I think she accidentally pulled at her stitches. It happened again a little while ago. She was in my study playing with a plastic container behind my chair when I heard her give a small pained cry and she came to me again with her "cuddle me" look. I'm not sure what happened as I was not looking but I'm guessing she twisted her body while playing and it hurt. I decided to crate her, at least for a while, to force her to stay put for a bit. I'll let her out to her pen later but I think I'll restrict her roaming around the house for the rest of the weekend because she keeps running up and down the stairs and I don't want to repeat the painful episode from last time, when they had to sedate her to take out her stitches because some had embedded a bit into the skin. She won't be happy about the limited freedom, but with luck those stitches will come out on Tuesday and, since by then I'll finally be free from most of my work, I'll compensate it with lots of exercise and longer walks.

LOL my dog is a jealous little thing, she is!

I went out to buy more canned food for her meds. The store is walking distance and normally I would have taken V with me but the street I have to walk through is not exactly very sanitary and I was advised by the vet to be careful with the wound so I left her upstairs. My next door neighbor was out playing with her own dog, a Labrador called Sultan. The dog ran to greet me and I patted him on the head and said hi... and suddenly I heard frantic barking from my house. V was watching from upstairs and she didn't like that I was with the other dog! It's not the first time either, when I babysat my friend E's dog V started peeing in the house, it was a nightmare (admittedly, I'm not sure how much of that ws jealousy and how much was caused by her illness).
