A Shamrock Kind Of Sunday To You And A Little Limerick

There once was a Nana named Diana,
That had a grandgirl named Anna,
To honor the sweet miss,
She set up a dish,
But forgot to put out the banana.

Ah-yes---I might have neglected to get a
BANANA
but I did remember to make
SHAMROCK COOKIES!
they are the blob to the left on the plate
BERJAYA
Bet you want to see more of that
cute little table,
don't you?

Well, that is not gonna happen today.
I do, however, have another
LITTLE LIMERICK
for you.

MyHero said- Let's go for a ride,
We'll rent a room-it'll be exciting inside,
So I said, Yes, with a grin,
but found much to my chagrin,
He had forgotten the TV guide.
BERJAYA
Welcome to MY EXCITING life..

Have a wonderful EXCITING Sunday!
Hope you remembered to set your clock ahead.

The SMILE That Will Make YOU Smile- Guaranteed!

I told you a few posts ago that when
the girls stay here I try to use the
FANCY DINING ROOM
at least once in a while.

Well, it is now our new
TRADITION
that if they stay the night we have
a nice meal with "formal" place settings.

You remember my table from here?
BERJAYA
I used my red transferware for the
girls' special dinner of salad
and homemade spaghetti and meatballs-
a family favorite.

The flowers were gone but I had another
large candle that I used centerstage.
The girls always have fun waiting for dinner.
I  took several shots of them chit-chatting together.
We have lots of SMILES and laughs
at our table.
BERJAYA
But sometimes it is nice to get a picture
of them that is just a tad "calm" feeling!
A picture of smiles rather than laughter.

NOW for the picture that will make
YOU SMILE.
This is the one that TAKES THE PRIZE.
I said,
Girls, give me just ONE SMILE
where you aren't showing
YOUR TEETH!
BERJAYA
Can you GUESS which one is
LITERAL LULU?
Here's the KICKER-She
WAS NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY!

I'll be around today if I can find a bit of
sanity in a corner somewhere.
Have a blessed Sunday!

Red Transferware And Red Roses

Remember the other day when I asked you
Well, I had to censor some of your answers.
Anyway,
I thought a
DOZEN RED ROSES
deserved a table set using
RED TRANSFERWARE
and Ruby (or Cranberry)Thumbprint glasses.
BERJAYA
I have a mix and match of pieces.
I got many of them when I helped my friend's,
Tom & Ruth, get their house ready for sale here.
Ruth has always been a collector of many things
and I was lucky enough to get the pieces
of red transferware that she had.
I combined them with the few pieces I had
to set this table.
BERJAYA
The candlesticks are sterling silver and belonged
to Grandmother Clara.
The vase in the center is crystal
from Poland and a gift
from a friend when she moved away.
It belonged to her mother.
It weighs more than my left thigh...
okay- I might have lied about that.

Close up of the vase.
The clear glass candle holders were a gift
from my son-in-law for Christmas.
BERJAYA
There were a few special pieces like the gravy boat.
BERJAYA
Another shot overall.
BERJAYA
And this shows the chandelier
and the built in hutches
that flank the fireplace.
BERJAYA
Well, hubby is out of town
so no dinner party tonight.
Time to snuff out the candles with my new
CANDLE SNUFFER.
Does the word candle SNUFFER make you feel like SNICKERING?
My three granddaughters
got this for me for Christmas.
BERJAYA
Down goes the Birdie!
BERJAYA
Out goes the flame.

Hmmmm.....MyHero is gone...
You know the old saying-
While the CAT'S away the MOUSE will play.
I could just go WILD & CRAZY, couldn't I?
My friend, Jettie, posted something to help me get
started with the CRAZY part!
BERJAYA
I sent for TWO starter kits.
If ONE is good TWO must be better, right?

The Center Of My Table and a Weight Loss Plan

Sometimes I go for
ELEGANT
and sometimes I go for
Simple, Homey and a tad Rustic
when I decorate for Fall
and Thanksgiving.

Here is what sits in
the center of my
dining room table right now.
BERJAYA
I threw it together in a
large rectangular basket with a wood bottom,
some over sized faux acrons,
some mini pumpkins,
some cinnamon sticks.
Then I added some leaves gathered here and there.
I have family heirloom sterling silver
candlesticks on either side.

There is a piece of bark cloth underneath
the basket that I have
had for about 15 years and STILL love.
The MIX sign is from a closed down,
abandoned stockyard
and stolen by my girls when we went
home when my brother died.
Shhhh- I would hate to see them arrested
although it would probably serve them right.
It was  given  to me for Mother's Day.
It brings back bittersweet memories of times
I spent with my Dad in the little office above
the stockyard floor with the owner of the place.

I have plaid napkins on the table that coordinates with the bark cloth.
You can just see the edge of one napkin the the
center of the picture.

I think it would be fun to serve
this cake along with pumpkin
and pecan pie.
BERJAYA

It is either the cake above or the one below.
BERJAYA

Yes- That is a real cake.
(for those that want to know it is supposed to be
a skinned mole rat)-Imagine serving THAT!!!
The dilemma is
Which one matches my centerpiece the best?

The weight loss plan I promised?
This is a FREE plan!
No need to use PayPal or your
credit card for this one.
Try to imagine a piece of that last cake
on a plate in front of you.
I guarantee that will curb your appetite.
You're welcome!
Catch you a bit later this morning!

You've Picked Your Seat Now Come To Dinner

Now-I hate to tell you this but you all are
SUCH a bunch of Wishy-Washies!
Yesterday I gave you seven choices
of table settings
and several of you gave me 2 or 3 votes
AND
 ONE of you,
who shall remain nameless
JANE/Blondies Journal
liked FIVE of them!

But, when I finished
tallying up the numbers
two of the tables were neck to neck
with Table #7 having just an extra two votes.
I guess the Neutrals have it!
BERJAYA
HOWEVER,
 for all you color lovers....
Table #3 was not far behind
with only FOUR less votes than #1!
BERJAYA
The other votes were divided almost equally.
Wish I could have everyone that voted
over for dinner.
Wouldn't THAT be fun?
You can sit right next to me.
What? Why YOU?
Well, what's that old saying?
If you don't have anything nice to
say about someone come sit by me!;>)

Now for even MORE fun come by
tomorrow and I will show
you how I painted a
French style telephone!
Yes.I.Did.

Ruth's Red & White Transferware-It's Mine Now!

As you know I have been working
the past couple of weeks
helping my friend, Ruth,
pack away her treasures for Florida.
However, she is not taking all of it
with her.
Some is being sold at auction
and some is being donated.
Some went to a consignment shop
and some
CAME HOME WITH ME.

When I got to the top shelf in her kitchen
I wanted to cry with joy.
LOOK what was hiding up there.
She had told me all along that when
we got to it
I could have it.
Seriously?
I LOVE red & white china.
This is especially beautiful.
It is called
English Abbey.

I carried it home and carefully
handwashed it.
I decided I needed to use it
for a quick little set up
because it is so pretty.
Here's the tabletop-set for one-ME!
BERJAYA
Don't you just love it?
See that roll?
Yep- Hard as a baseball!
See those strawberries?
THOSE are FRESH!
Besides the set of
English Abbey
there are several other pieces mixed together.
This is Moreton Old Hall by Wedgewood.
BERJAYA
These cups are unmarked but so pretty
BERJAYA
This is the inside of four cups.
It is called Enoch Woods  by Wood & Sons
BERJAYA
But my favorite is still the
English Abbey.
There are more pieces of that than anything else.
I love the sweet image on it.
BERJAYA
If you pop by I promise to buy new rolls
AND add a place setting for you.
BERJAYA
You know the coffee pot is ALWAYS on at my house!
BERJAYA
So- Come on over-
We'll dish the dirt on everyone we know!
