Cleanup and Stuff

25 Feb

It took me a while to get everything scooped that I was going to get scooped.  There were some deep drifts.  It was not easy getting to the hay and making a path to take it into the barn.

And there was also a layer of ice beneath the snow.  That made it even more fun.

But I finally got as much done as I was going to. Don’t ask me why the dog was licking the ice/melt off the deck steps.

Then, since the ground was still thawed under all of that snow, I thought I’d put out my latest garden acquisitions.  I’m sure the snow stick is not accurate because of the drifting.  I’m also not sure I have it completely down to the ground.  After everything melts again, I’ll adjust it.

And I could not resist this owl thermometer because the one I hung out there last summer does not work. Ever.  So I thought I would try this one.  For the record, it isn’t accurate in the photo because I had just put it outside, and it was still adjusting.

I just love it! And I think I’m ready for real spring.

Beauty After the Storm

24 Feb

By Friday afternoon, the sun had come out, and that left us with a beautiful sunset and icicles.

Even though it was cold, it was beautiful.

After the Snow

23 Feb

I really wasn’t prepared for cold and snow and blowing. I worked to get my trails scooped so I could put out feed pans and haul hay and water.

Thankfully, my nephew brought his backhoe out and did my driveway.

It was quite a shock for the animals as well. Those huge temperature swings are hard on them.

And Gabe was gaining weight and his hair had just started growing back in.  But, I have a heat lamp in there for him and put the food in the building, and I am keeping a close eye on him to see if I need to move him back to the Morton building.

I did shut the door and turn the heat lamp on for Wanda also.  She doesn’t have someone to snuggle with in there.

I wish Ava would be nice and share food with her mom, but that’s not going to happen.

BERJAYA

Ava does not share food with anyone.

And Wanda would pick on Antigone.  She would be my first choice to put in with Wanda because when I came home on Thursday in the sleet, Antigone was outside.  So I moved her into the buck room.  She’s by herself also.

Antigone does appreciate the room service

Anyhow, I got my paths cleared and everyone is getting food and I’m keeping an eye on everyone.  And it’s supposed to slowly warm up to above average temperatures by mid-week.  I’m not sure that’s what I wanted either.
