Grand Central Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 53)

This is the reflection of the sculpture and clock on the facade of Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Mercury is easy to see with his arms stretched out under the Hyatt's " T's" but the reflection also shows a distorted Minerva lying on her side and Hercule's head as well as some buildings. The sculpture was created in 1914 by Jules Alexis Coutan of Paris.

Another New Hope Guardian

This creepy 300 pound metal sculpture wields a large spiked mace while continually crouching in front of one of New Hope's many art galleries. Who needs a watch dog when you can have this guy guarding the place. I just wonder how many customers it's scared away. I don't know what his name is but I guess some people call him art.

Be careful not to stare into his eyes for very long. :)

More Faces of Princeton

This is a mysteryI wonder if anyone has counted all of the faces and animals that are carved into Princeton. For example the doorway to the gymnasium in the top picture has twenty faces on it and more above it. Maybe if I ever get really bored,........ never mind.

The bottom picture is a mystery to me. It was on a wall next to the entrance of Princeton's library. If you know what it is please do tell.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a fancy waffle iron. :)

A Pint or a Prayer at Princeton

I'm sure students at Princeton feel a lot of pressure, just look at the guy in the middle photo who is getting his head squeezed by the sculpture.

I took the the bottom two photos on the campus and the top one is a pub across the street.

A Hot Day in Doylestown

Yesterday Vicki and I went to Doylestown. It's not too far from Newtown and has more things to do. We started off at the James A. Michener Art Museum and Sculpture Garden. Then we did a little sight seeing (picture taking) and Vicki bought a used book. It was really hot and humid so we went to a cafe and had nachos and iced tea. After that, we paid a visit to Craig who owns "Let Them Eat Cupcakes" (more on him at another time).
On the way home we stopped at Tanner Bro's. It's a cool little market that's attached to a dairy farm. The produce and dairy products are wonderful, and the prices are the best that I've seen around here. (I need to go back and get some pictures.)

Today's pictures feature the museum entrance and some of the sculpture garden.
Notice the high stone walls; this museum is actually housed in what used to be a prision.
