Small Projects

BERJAYA
BERJAYA
I haven’t felt like working on my next probably 10 years old UFO.  I have felt like sewing, so I’ve been working on small projects. This is the aerial view.

Trying To Keep Current

Couldn’t figure out how to rearrange on my phone, so  there is my dog enjoying a small cup of free ice cream from a local shop, a small fuzzy pillow for one of 2 more grandkids and their mom (3 pillows total), and a memory quilt for the mom from my husbands shirts.

I liked this little tote bag from Erica Arendt, so I decided to make a bigger one with zippered top, 2 big pockets inside, and 2 big zippered pockets outside. I used fabric that I had, and I like the little one, but the big one, not so much.

Catching Up Eleven

BERJAYA
I made most of these blocks in 2013 and just finished it.  It’s from a tutorial by Jean Madan and is about 90x100.

BERJAYA
This fabric was so soft and cuddly that I couldn’t stand to throw away the long skinny trimmings, so I sewed them together and made 4 little misshapen pillows for some great grandchildren.

BERJAYA
I just thought this was funny. I used all of my pins on the last baby quilt I did, but when I did my huge lattice quilt, I had these left.  Something wrong with this picture.

BERJAYA
A couple of grocery tote bags from Jess Oklaroots tutorial

I’m grateful that I have had sewing and quilting to keep myself busy since my husband passed, and since the quarantine.  Becoming a widow is a hard thing, and it has helped a lot. Elaine Adair, another blogger, who lost her husband shortly before I lost mine has also been a sounding board through our emails,  We have had a lot of common ground and have been able to help each other through it. I’m grateful for her, and for my family. In spite of my loss, I’ve had many blessings.

BERJAYA
I almost forgot these. When I got the state flower quilt embroidered dish towels from Etsy, I had almost all of the fabric left. I trimmed them and added snaps, and now have 7 very useful kitchen towels.

A baby quilt for a new grand nephew. The backing is so soft.

BERJAYA
I made my daughter a comfort quilt kit from her father’s clothes, but she never hot time or inclination to finish it, so I just recently finished it for her.

BERJAYA
I also made myself this one from leftovers from the baby quilt and a few other fabrics. I backed my daughters and this one with an incredibly soft backing.

BERJAYA
A little tote, again from a SewCanShe tutorial.

BERJAYA
A finish from blocks I had made probably at least 10 years ago.  The stabilizer for the embroidery didn’t seem to benefit from being stored so long, and made for a sticky mess when washed.  A cup of goof off helped a lot after about 4 or 5 more washings.  I bought some embroidered dish towels from Etsy to fill in state flower blanks.

Catching Up Eight

Little Christmas decorations. I made several for gifts.

3 small quilts. I gave away 2 for Christmas gifts, and still have the third.  When I find links to quilt along or tutorial, I’ll add them.  The last one I gave to my son-in-law’s cousin who was ill, and passed away February 25th.

Another phase. My big totes, again research in order to give credit and a way to find them if I go back to that phase.  Mostly, I made matching pouches, too.
