A new one

 At the end of the New Foelie street a mural from Nils Westergard, an artist from a small town in Virginia.It depicts a skipper with his pipe who often roamed around here in the past. One for Sami's Colourful World here.

Fantastic winter light

We should take advantage of that. Header the bridge  over the Prinsengracht with al the tourists on it and the Wester church in the back shows how crowded Amsterdam is these days.

 

A walk through the city.

 

Today, I noticed how many dogs are actually transported in bags.

This beautiful white dog named Yuki was standing next to it, but what I hadn't noticed at all was the second dog.

Eurolille

 The nice thing about this time of year is that it's already dark when everyone is still working. That makes for nice building photos.

First house in Almere

This house was the first inhabited house in Almere 50 years ago.

Efforts were made to establish a museum house as a memorial to this event, and here we see the initiator, Ans van Berkum, and the mayor, Hein van der Loo, in the house during yesterday's official opening.

A great deal of attention has been paid to the interior design from 1975/1976.

I was also invited to the opening because at the time I was working for architect Joop van Stigt, who had designed these homes and I had drawn up all the plans.

It was a nice reunion.

And on this wall in the living room, there are some old drawings I made and some photos of Joop v Stigt and, to my surprise, one of myself, but that one was only four weeks old... of work 50 years ago.

Still nice

My favorite visit on the market to fill up our cheese stock every Friday. (Header not so long 

 ago, the municipality planted bee ribbons everywhere along the edges of green spaces. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them this year.)

Farewell to a friend and colleague

 

Last Tuesday, I attended the funeral of a friend and colleague from the early days of my architectural career. It took place in the Great Church of Edam (founded in 1518). A building like this, with its wooden barrel vault, is always impressive, and as we walked in a long procession to the adjacent cemetery to the sound of bells ringing, I did feel a little sad. He had lived to the age of 88, so he hadn't exactly died in his cradle. The last photo is the polder view directly next to the church.

Photography fair

and it was very busy again

with many bargains for enthusiasts.

For a moment, I was tempted by a Hasselblad F with a 12 cassette and standard lens for €300, but in the end I kept the money in my pocket, thinking of all those beautiful 6x6 cameras that have been sitting unused in the closet at home for years. (Not in the picture  forgotten on the moment)

The local camera repairer also had some time for something else. Hopefully next year better.

View of the garden

Jan Hendrik Tromp Meesters had the Art Nouveau villa “Rams Woerthe” built on the Gasthuislaan in Steenwijk. In 1899, he moved into this house, designed by A.D.N. van Gendt from Amsterdam. The construction had cost more than 75,000 guilders. The header shows the entrance fence.
