The latter part of last week was snowy, windy and cold. On such December days when the harbour begins to ice over,
the damp cold feels like it reaches one’s bones.
The week didn’t start that way. It had been cold and windy but the snow was minimal and nothing stayed on the ground. Ice in the bay wasn’t a possibility until Wednesday when temperatures plummeted and changed everything. Schools were closed, roads were treacherous, the wind howled, snow fell and drifted while ice formed in the bay.
The boardwalk, though plowed and salted, required one’s attention, watching for icy spots as we ventured forward.
Meanwhile, at home, a Red Fox which resides in our area, was busy one morning, hunting in the snow for a morning snack.
I hope to do my Christmas shopping locally this week and get parcels in the mail. I hope you have a great week too.

Great pictures, especially the fox going about his day. Have a good week.
Hahahahaha, subletting! And great shot of the fox in action during daylight hours!
Hello,
Beautiful winter scenes and photos.
My favorites are the photos of Daisy, the Eagle and Fox.
The landscapes and seascapes are lovely too.
It does look cold there! Stay warm and safe.
Take care, have a wonderful week ahead.
It does look very cold and windy. We have lots of rain in our forecast, but it's warm, which will change eventually. I am in no hurry for that. Love your pictures!
Brrrr...looks bone-chilling, all right. I laughed about the eagle sub-letting the nest!
Beautiful fox. We have them here but rarely see them.
We had a small snowfall last week and the remains have frozen over which can make walking a bit treacherous.
Surprised to see the fox!
I love the hush in the air when it is chilly like this.
Marie,
December’s chill along PEI shores
Sets winter’s story gently in motion.
Eagles, fox, and icy bays
All move with nature’s quiet devotion.
Daisy’s joy in the frosty air
Adds warmth to every step you take.
Thank you for sharing these winter scenes …
A treat in every image you make.
John 😊
Happy Dog , Frozen Tundra , Gorgeous Fox , And Powerful Birds Of Prey
Way Cool ,
Cheers
The fox is beautiful. Snow-covered woodland out my window as I type. Soooooo pretty. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week. Pup looks happy but that one paw is it just normal or hurt? I can't tell from the photo. I'm thinking just caught in action of walking in the snow. Happy Winter ❄️❤️
Looks like Winter has arrived. Nice that you get to enjoy your grand dog's company often!
Those pictures capture how incredibly cold it must have been. I'm so clumsy these days I would have to be really careful if I got out in it.
ooooooh i remember those bone chilling days so well!!! we have not had that cold yet...but it did provide for some gorgeous pictures!! i can't wait for snow...you know the bald eagles always steal the show for me. "subletting", hehehe what a great way to describe that situation!!! the fox is beautiful...i like it's black snow boots!!!
The photos look cold! Brrrr!!!
It has warmed up a little since I arrived home, but now the snow has started. We're expecting several inches over the next week.
Your first photo is bleak, icy and beautiful. And the fox is a lovely one. I do look forward to seeing what you will post. Even your header makes me happy, as often as I have rolled it up. I love the ocean and boats and waves and even icy stretches of bay ... and here I am stuck in Eastern Ontario. Trees? We got 'em. Long views? If you want farmers' fields.
Love the "subletting". I'm in awe of the beautiful bald eagle. I've been fortunate to see one once. It was flying majestically over a lake. Try to stay warm, sure looks cold!
I see that winter has arrived down east too. It does seem rather early this year for the weather to be quite as severe as it is.
Hello Marie :)
Your resident Bald Eagle and fox are great shots. Your icey cold weather is chilling, and makes me think of Christmas, although I haven't done any shopping yet, but have decorated the floor to ceiling Christmas tree which took me two days.
All the best Marie, keep warm and healthy-
Sonjia
The first photos do convey the cold of the season. Love seeing the eagle in his sublet nest! No snow here just constant rain and some wind. And warmer than normal temperatures. Today is supposed to be a bit of a reprieve until the next system blows ashore.
Getting out for a walk in the snow with Daisy (or without her) is a winter pleasure if the wind isn't howling too much.
I love seeing all your snowy photos! When I was growing up, I loved being in the snow but not any more. Now I spend winters in warm South Florida. Beautiful photos of the eagle and fox.
Your photos of the eagle are amazing. I can't even begin to imagine being out in that kind of cold. Stay warm up there somehow!
Your photos convey the coldness of the season. Great shots of the eagle and fox. I bet Daisy enjoyed her walk, they don't care about the coldness. :)
Any snow is too much; any cold is too cold!
How lovely that you had the handsome dog visit for a few days.
Thank you so much for the wonderful photo of the bald eagle… simply magnificent!
The harbor with its ice floes looks beautiful, even if it's probably not a good omen for shipping.
I really like the photo with the fox.
Warm regards, Viola
