Amsterdam graffiti history

Some amsterdam graffiti artists from the late seventies early eighties with their tags (seen in the amsterdam museum)

This cupboard in the museum stood in a room from graffiti artist Each and was accompanied by the following text.

In the 1990s, EACH's room, which is actually the garage of a house in the Bijlmer neighborhood, 

is home to the SMD crew, which includes CANOL. EACH, CHAO. GATE, CHEK. TIENUS, 

SAO, OWIE, MOON and JAKE. Every day they meet to sketch. smoke dope and make plans to be carried out at night. The cupboard, like the whole room (every piece of furniture. even the 

ceiling), has been completely tagged/graffitibombed. not only by the crew but also by 

visiting guests. Today the cupboard. which has come with them every time they have moved. is 

an object of nostalgia for the crew members; a reminder of a particular era in their lives. 

Something for monday murals perhaps.

Sign of the times ?

Last sunday I saw this trolley passing by on the photographical market in Doesburg.

I wonder if the owner is clairvoyant or that the trolley maker is simply a bad pessimist.
