BERJAYA
We're blogging the letter M over at ABC Wednesday this week,
and M is for all the MUSIC that will be filling Water Avenue
 in Selma this weekend.

From The Dill Pickers Stringband (pictured) and comedy troupe
at the Alabama Tale-Tellin' Festival to Vintage Gray, The Fabulous Shades,
Lower Society of Upper Water Avenue, The Ramblers and others
at Riverfront Market Day, there will be lots of MUSIC!

All That Jazz!

BERJAYASelma sounded like New Orleans Sunday afternoon as this Dixieland jazz band strolled through the street playing "When the Saints Go Marching In." It was part of the grand intro to Kathryn Tucker Windham's birthday party which I posted about on Monday. I think the banjo player's and the drummer's faces really capture the mood of the day...one of joyful celebration! Kathryn is a Selma icon and is known far and wide. Read more about her HERE.
More info is on the Alabama Tale Tellin' site.

Colorful Clowns

BERJAYAThese colorful clowns entertained Sunday evening at the annual Christian street festival, a time of praise and worship, food, balloons and socializing. It is held downtown between First Baptist, First Presbyterian and Church Street United Methodist churches. Singing groups included the Selma Community Choir, Freedom Foundation chorus, Angelic Harmonizers and others. Attendees brought along folding chairs, babies in strollers and appetites for free samples of fresh-fried catfish nuggets, hush puppies and Pepsi.
