Enchanted by the way she captured the birds' reflection in the water - using appliqué and hand-stitched quilting. Reflecting quilted birds Fast forward to the Silvermine fire in April. We had tickets to Last Night of the Proms at the City Hall. Fire started above Tokai, but on Sunday morning the wind turned and drove the fire up and over into Silvermine. Catching hikers unaware, and also out of range for cellphone reception. One woman had to run for her life, and her parked car was burnt out. Other hikers near Silvermine dam were told to get INTO the dam. There is a ledge below the dam wall, and they stood with their feet in the water - till a ranger could run for a car, and rescue them. Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
