Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Sean Jeating and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1.visited  2.chewing  3.nudging  4.saw  5.point   and/or:  1.side  2.honey  3.companion  4.silent  5.loudly Charlotte's colour of the month is Pumpkin Orange Here is my story, a short addition to the previous chapter: Later that evening as several people filled the dining room, Nanna Ruby looked around happily “It’s been so long since this many people visited all at once,” ...

Am I the only one who listens to music via Windows Media?

I have always preferred Windows Media over i-tunes for several reasons. With i-tunes you get a popup window asking you to please sign in or log in or whatever.  They prefer you only listen to what you bought via the i-tunes store. You can import your own music via CDs, but i-tunes can only play those songs IF they can find the "original file" and if I didn't use i-tunes for a while I found most of my songs disappeared into the cloud. Even the ones I'd paid for. That's the most annoying part.  So, Windows Media. Load up your songs and they are always there, sort them into playlists, mix and match, no problem, nothing disappears into any cloud. All of my i-tunes songs are here too 😀  BUT, (there's always a but, everyone has one) with the more modern versions of Windows there have been changes (bring back Windows XP? Windows98?) and I can't figure out how to even out the volumes of the different songs.  Much of the older ones are all at the same volume, but...

Sunday Selections #760

Image
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.  Join us if you wish, just leave a comment to let us know so we can visit and see your Sunday Selections. Wisteria is now blooming and for the first week or two the scent is quite strong and the blossoms are covered in bees. Wattle is everywhere, there are several different types, my favourite is the lemon scented one, but that tree was cut down several years ago when the block was sold and townhouses were built there. t...

Words for Wednesday participants: a message

Our host, Elephant's Child, (Sue) has passed away suddenly and I am not sure if all of you will wish to continue the Words for Wednesday meme. Those of you who participated by leaving words at her site may choose to leave them here instead, at least until the end of this year. Please let me know.  I don't have email addresses for all participants.  Those of you who put the words on your own site can choose to continue, or not, it is up to you. Please let me know.  This year has only three months left and I would like to know if any or all would like to keep this meme going in 2026. I am hoping Sunday Selections will continue, but again, the choice is up to those who participate. I know that I will keep going. ** It's possible Sue already has (had) the Wednesday words and has them scheduled to post on the day, so we shall wait and see **
