If you're a frequent visitor you know I like collecting playing cards and the Addams Family so when I saw this deck, I picked it up quicker than you could snap. And what better way to celebrate the first Wednesday post of October?

 

It comes in this gorgeous cardboard box. The top section slides off to reveal the cards and the quote "Are you unhappy, darling?" On the other side is the reply "Oh, yes, yes! Completely!"

 

This deck, as you can see, uses the original comic version of the family. Fester is the Joker while Granny is the Lil' Joker.

 

 The artwork on each card is the same for every suit. Cousin Itt is featured on the 4 with one or more Family members on the other numbers. They made some excellent choices with the art selection. I like what they did with the suit icons making them half black and half purple or red. It's hard to see in the photos but the cards have a lighter version of the pattern that is on the box and back of the cards.

 

 Naturally the court cards are the main Family members and they all fit their card so perfectly. Naturally, Lurch is on the 10. Unfortunately, Thing is nowhere to be found in the deck.

 It just wouldn't be spooky season without a release from Sam Haynes to kick things off. As you might guess from the title, this is his 13th annual Halloween album. The Bandcamp version is extended with a few bonus tracks you can't get anywhere else.

 

 Haunted House Party is also back this year with Late Night Frights, a new album of lo-fi hip-hop beats perfect for your Halloween hang.

 

 Released at the end of last October, Frightmare is a darkwave collab (that's what the kids are saying, right?) between Figure and Destryur featuring tracks inspired by some classic horror flicks like The Exorcist, Phantasm, and Street Trash.

 

Speaking of movie inspired music, artist Ben Living blends baleful beats with clips from deeper cut horror flicks like Terror Train, The Tingler, and Return to Horror High for a spooky cinematic celebration.

 Did you know Spirit Halloween has its own video game? Well, it's not so much a Spirit game as it is slapping the brand on an existing game and making a few changes. Kind of like how Spirit takes over all the vacant buildings in your town every year.

 

 Haunted Halloween is a homebrew game made by Retrotainment. It was created using the same limitations as any game for the NES so it looks and plays just like an original NES game. The Spirit version has two games: the original Haunted Halloween 86 and the Spirit themed version.

 

 The fun thing about the game is that it has an actual physical release with a boxes cartridge and color manual. These seem to be quite the collector's item as they always show "out of stock" and "not available in store" at Spirit online. Current EBay prices are $200+ !!
