A fork in the road

Hi lovelies, just to let you know I’ve run out of image space on my blog – I’ve put up too many pics, who’d a thunk it!

This has led to some heartfelt, hard thinking. I could upgrade my blog but that costs money and I don’t earn anything from being in this space, it’s just for me…..and you. I don’t know how many people are actually still reading blogs. I know I’m not as diligent as I used to be. It’s been a lot of “do I, don’t I?” thinking and rather than have those of you who still read here left wondering, I’ve decided to take another break from blogging. Apparently I’ll get more image space later in the year and I’ll make a firm decision then as to whether I continue blogging or stop altogether.

So until we meet again, take care.

Class show and tell

This post should be titled “The K Club” as all the students had “K” sounding names – name tags were definitely needed!!

It was the first class for my new “Burwood Park” applique quilt at Nuno Nuno and my students were very keen…..

Double Wedding Ring class

Last month I had another DWR class at the quilt shop with students using a very varied array of fabrics and styles, and one hand piecing hers. Let’s see what they did, huh?

After seeing my class samples, Lorraine decided to “go rogue” with some pieced and some solid arcs, and we even made a pieced centre! (makes we want to do another one!!)

Amanda had a pack of fabrics she wanted to use and she’s going a bit rogue too but with softer prints

Katrina is using a fabulous AMH print as a background and teaming it with shot cottons and following one of my class samples for the layout

Anne is using lots of brights with her low volume background and varying her arcs too

BERJAYA

Kylie was the sole hand piecer and is using just 4 fabrics for her solid arc and set corners DWR

BERJAYA

and Jennifer is using purples and greens with a self printed background for hers

Everyone did so well! A very productive day.

Autumn

It’s been a mixed Autumn this year; we’ve had some beautiful sunny days with cold mornings and evenings but brilliant sunshine

then cold, wet and miserable days, a portent to Winter which is now just around the corner. But the cold nights have brought out the colours in the deciduous trees in the neighbourhood. Burnt umber, shimmering gold, flaming red, burnished orange

all looking magnificent against the dark trunks and branches

BERJAYA

It’s one of my favourite times of the year; the cooling days (I don’t like the heat) and chilly nights so perfect for sleeping, and as I said before, the colours have been beautiful

Some trees choose to colour up quickly, others take their time keeping green and autumn tones together even on the same branch, the green leaves having their tips “painted” and speckles of colour gradually appearing

Camellia’s are blooming now too, this one is my next door neighbour’s so I get to see it each time I leave the house

Class show and tell

At the 1st week at the quilt shop…….

Helen finished putting her “Carpenter’s Wheel” blocks together using templates for the block piecing and it’s HUGE!

and she chose a backing for it, ready to be basted for hand quilting

Helen also finished off a “Market Tote” started a while ago

Gillian did some more on her applique, making heart balloons and doing a layout

and she had a lesson in EPP

We laid out Karen’s pieced and embroidered blocks setting them on point and working out what else had to be made

Val stitched her borders on and we worked out how to place the corner applique

Class show and tell

At the end of last month at the quilt shop……

We’ve started an extra class at the quilt shop on the 4th Wednesday of each month and there are some vacancies so if you’d like to join us, please contact the shop for further details. And last time…..

Denise had a layout of her quilt and we decided what extra needed to be added

Jen made some stars, the ones on the left really messing with her head using those odd points on the stars

Karen played with her kite shapes and we did a bit of a layout to check on colour values

and we cut the corners for her diamond TAW – it’s nearly finished!
