Last Friday D and I went to Worcestershire County Cricket Ground to view The Farewell Event of the Worcester Elephants Big Parade Art Trail.
Throughout the summer 66 decorated elephant sculptures (30 large plus 36 smaller) have formed a free art trail round Worcester's city centre and open spaces. It it is a Wild in Art Event organised by Sir Richard's hospice to raise funds.
Now the Big Parade has finished all the elephants were on display over a couple of weekends at Worcestershire County Cricket Ground.
I allowed two hours for the journey but actually it only took us just over an hour to get to Worcester and park next to the cricket ground. After sandwiches and a flask of tea in the car we made our way to the display.
I was relieved that most of the event was out of doors and to be honest there were only about a dozen or so other people there plus volunteers. I think avoiding going at the weekend was a good idea!
Unfortunately, the elephants weren't labelled so I have done some research on the internet and managed to find the names and artists (apologies if any are incorrect).

The baby elephants were on display in the marquee but I am still so nervous about anywhere indoors that I only had a quick look.
I did buy a few souvenirs - a tea towel for the caravan, a small toy elephant which I will show you when it is named and a fridge magnet which I managed to forget to put in a bag and left behind I think :(
All the elephants were really lovely and the artists so talented but I think my favourite was "Inky the Elephant".

It was a really lovely display and I am so glad we went. Sadly, traffic on the way home was awful and it took two hours ten minutes! We were half way to the caravan and I really wished we had stuck to the original plan to carry on there and stop for a night or two.
