It's beginning to look lot like Christmas....

BERJAYA
Well, just in the sewing room for now.  I have spent quite a few days creating Christmas decorations  like this stocking and also ornaments for the new family members.........this is still a work in progress.  I have the rest cut out just not finished yet but I am gaining!

The ornaments are something I used to make for new babies in church and somehow I never made them for my own grandchildren-that has now been remedied!

Bond

BERJAYA
This month's fiber was Bond.  I think I have found my new favorite for this year-soft, lofty and a joy to spin.  Utter perfection for a fiber!

Uniformity

BERJAYA
I fell into an interesting sewing job; a police officer friend wanted to get a 'real' uniform for his  young daughter and this is the plan we came up with-one of his old uniforms so I could make an authentic uniform for her-a Real One!
BERJAYA
Yup, it worked!  We will soon have a new patrolman on duty!

Sewing Room Therapy

BERJAYA
The last of my family left this morning.  I needed some serious therapy.  Since I was up early for their departure, I sat right down in front of my spinning wheel and plied the Finn/Cashmere singles.
We are talking about some serious softness here-137 yards.
BERJAYA
I next spun my hand carded FiberBinderClub sample for November, this is Bond fiber-very, very soft and squishy!
BERJAYA
Next, I turned to the pile of fabric Marsel and I cut up yesterday for a baby quilt!  The pattern is from the July/August '12 issue of Quiltmaker magazine.
BERJAYA
Do I want it laid out like this..................?
BERJAYA
 Or like this?
BERJAYA
I added the inner and outer boarders.

BERJAYA
The top is all pieced..........
BERJAYA
And even pieced the back!  I like turning the sadness from the goodbyes into something positive.

I will be finishing this as soon as I schedule a trip to JoAnns for the batting!

Together

BERJAYA
David and his Uncle Matthew did some target shooting.
BERJAYA
The kids cooked supper with Grandpa for all of us.
BERJAYA
I knit in the evening and savored the good memories of the day.

Thanksgiving!

BERJAYA
We were able to share a majority of us for the day!  We will be thankful for all who are here and give thanks for those who are farther away.  Thank you , Lord, for my family.

Projects at Home

BERJAYA
I have been knitting.  A lot.  This is the finished baby ensemble for grand daughter #3 which is weeks from her arrival.
BERJAYA
I am also knitting her a baby blanket like Mom's entrelac throw.  It is a wonderful knit if you want a great project.
BERJAYA
I got out a fleece, Merino/Columbia cross to wash while Bill was gone for the day.
BERJAYA
I put it in the tub for its many washes and rinses.  It turned out beautifully!  I took it with me to the Purple Cow Festival for demonstrating carding and spinning.  It is so soft and lofty!  It is going to be a great fiber.
BERJAYA
The day was so busy at the festival, I totally forgot about taking a picture of us!  After our totally perfect day, we went out and had a great dinner at Our Deck Down Under before we headed home.
BERJAYA
We ate out on the deck and watched the boats and sea gulls.  How relaxing to eat with this view in front of us!
BERJAYA
The cats enjoyed having me in my own sewing room again so they could help.  I got my own wall hanging done and will be putting it up right after Thanksgiving.

NY Project Line Up

BERJAYA
Mom and I made this set of fingerless mitts and matching hat.
BERJAYA
We finished the wall hanging we bought the other day.  This one is for my sister.
BERJAYA
We tied this quilt that we made last winter, now Mom just has to apply the binding and it will be in the finished pile!
BERJAYA
I made this pair of fingerless mitts for Alicia.
BERJAYA
Mom made this hat for Shelly.
BERJAYA
This afghan was given to Mom to finish.  It just needs two rows of double crochet around the outside now and it is finished.
BERJAYA
We got Mom's wall hanging all quilted and ready to hang!
BERJAYA
I got these scarlet fingerless mitts finished just in the nick of time for Amanda.
BERJAYA
My flying home project was this pair of socks-I got one done on my L  O  N  G  flight home via Detroit, Atlanta and then finally Jacksonville!  The other is also done and ready to gift!  I'd say we had a great time knitting-think about one word per stitch and you can understand how we filled the airwaves together!  <3 p="p">

Election

BERJAYA
These are the mitts I spun from the Romney fiber on my new wheel.  I tend not to discuss politics but today, I will be wearing these as my 'statement' on the election.  I voted early since I was going to be in NY and not my own state to vote today.  I hope you will exercise your privilege to participate in the election today .

Pleasures

BERJAYA
We woke up to snow one morning-very fine but it did accumulate on the roof if you look closely!  Brrr!
BERJAYA
My Dad is busy outside most days unless he takes us out to eat, I get my non-stop activity from both of my parents!
BERJAYA
I finished this pair of fingerless mitts out of alpaca-the setting must have been wrong on my camera because the color is a nice chocolate brown but I can't get another picture because my sister fell in love with this pair and has them already!
BERJAYA
I am enjoying all the time with my nieces also-this is Alicia who has inherited the crafting gene and we cut out two baby blankets from fleece and she got them both fringe tied and ready for the mail!  Her older sister just got her driver's license and she was out with friends!  I will capture her later!
BERJAYA
This is an entrelac afghan my Mom just finished.  It is a work of art!  Incredibly soft and luscious and just right for snuggling under for this Floridian!

Shop 'til you Drop

BERJAYA
My Mom, sister Connie and sister-in-law Shelly and I went shopping today!  We stopped at That Patchwork Place and feasted on the fabric and yarn.
BERJAYA
We went to this farm's shop, filled with yarn and wool and roving from their Finn sheep and cashmere from their goats!  What a feast for me!
BERJAYA
This shop also called us-the Lucky Goat, all natural goat's milk products-amazing stuff.  The shop next door was where we feasted on ice cream cones!  Always room for ice cream!
BERJAYA
My haul from our shopping-lip balm, cashmere/finn roving for spinning and a Christmas panel for a wall hanging!  It was wonderful to spend time together!

TRAGEDY

I am not going to be around for a while; my 9 year old grandson has perished in a house fire.  We are devastated.
