Rome, Italy
Sant'Ignazio Church in Rome had a large mirror at an angle to capture the reflection of this amazing ceiling painting by Andrea Pozzo. There was a lot to see, but my eyes focused on Jesus. He's the one holding the cross in the middle. :-)
Happy Easter!

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore (Weekend Reflections # 394)
Rome, Italy
This a reflection inside of Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Note the famous "all seeing eye of God" window in the center and the paintings on the ceiling. This is reflected in a marble column exactly like the one in the reflection. Can you see the column? It's on the right side.
Have a Happy and Blessed Easter!

Piazza di Spagna (Weekend Reflections # 389)
Rome, Italy
This is the Spanish Steps, Trinità dei Monti church and other buildings including Keats House which was under renovation with a false facade and a Calvin Klein poster. All of this is reflected in a Dior window.
A few weeks ago s.c (sccollections) mentioned that he prefers to see a little piece of window frame or little piece of the facade, so I left both on the right side. :-)
Happy Reflecting!

Venetian Grandeur (Weekend Reflections # 383)
Venice, Italy
This is the 16th century basilica San Giorgio Maggiore reflected on a vaporetto (water bus) window. I was more impressed with the outside of the church than the inside. However the view from the bell tower was well worth the short boat ride.
Happy Reflecting!

Paris, France (Église de la Sainte-Trinité/Church of the Holy Trinity reflected in a window) "The Église de la Sainte-Trinité is a Roman Catholic church located in
the 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. The church is a building of the
Second Empire period, built between 1861 and 1867 at a cost of almost 5
million francs." -wikipedia

Adobe Church (Weekend Reflections # 91)
Santa Fe, New MexicoAnother reflection from New Mexico. This time it's an adobe church and a white tree under a beautiful blue sky. It reflected in the window across the street.

Sycamore Street Last Night
When I lived in California I thought the low 50's F was cold. Then when I moved to Texas my cold threshold lowered to the low 40's. Now I consider the low 30's cold. It's 27F as I type this but yesterday's temps ranged from 17 to 22F and the wind chill brought it much lower. We even got a little bit of snow. I just wish that it would fall for longer than a few minutes. By the time I put on my coat and went outside the snow stopped falling. Picnik's snow effect fixed that problem. :)

Olde St. Andrew's at Night

I took these photos of Old St. Andrew's Church (circa 1880) while on my walk last night. I can see the lights from this church when I look out of my window but I think this is the first time I took pictures of it at night. I almost never take night pictures but I want to start. I also walked into the church cemetery but I got a little creeped out and headed to the main street area instead. :)

The Olde Church of St. Andrew

This is the Catholic church that's across the street from my apartment. I think I've posted about it before. It was built in 1880 and it has a cemetery on the side. On the other side of the cemetery there's a park and a creek runs behind them. I've walked there many times and I've always had the place to myself.Monday, December 14, 2009
Home Again
As you can see I was standing in the shade from all of the wonderful old buildings in Prague's Old Town. The famous Tyn Church is in the center and our hotel was about 20 meters to the right of it.

This is where we stayed it was very nice inside and out

This photo was taken in front of the hotel facing the spot where I took the top photo.
I would like to welcome the new followers and thank the participants of Weekend Reflections. It looks like it went well while I was away. I took a few reflection photos in Europe that I look forward to posting.
I would like to welcome the new followers and thank the participants of Weekend Reflections. It looks like it went well while I was away. I took a few reflection photos in Europe that I look forward to posting. The trip was wonderful but it's nice to be home. We saw so many interesting things and we ate some really great food. The weather ranged from mild to cold and we got a mix of clear skies, some rain and even a little snow.
We went to Prague first after changing planes in Munich.
After Prague we flew back to Munich and took a train to Salzburg.
After Salzburg we took the train back to Munich where we stayed for the final week of the trip.
Here is a short summary of Prague which will be followed by summaries of Salzburg and Munich.
1)Prague was fun but it was way too crowded and had too many tourist shops (sort of a Disneyland feel to it.) The buildings, bridges and views were really beautiful and our room was comfortable and came with a nice breakfast. The Christmas Market at Old Town square was great, it opened the day after we arrived.
Notable meals were goulash with bread like dumplings and kielbasa with mustard on a roll.
I'll be posting more pictures from this trip on my Something Sighted blog.

Wrightstown Friends Meeting House, circa 1787

This is one of many old churches in Newtown. This one is a Friends church which I think is another name for a Quaker church. I decided to stop here just as the sun was setting. At a later date I'll post some pictures of the sun setting behind the cemetery."Friends began meeting in the home of John Chapman in 1686 and built the first log meetinghouse at this location in 1721. The present building was built in 1787. "
Now I put on my hat and give a salute to the veterans.

Old Abington Church

I saw this wonderful church on the way home from a doctor appointment last week. I just happened to have my camera with me so I decided to brave the 93F/34C heat and get some pictures. There are historic marker signs all over this part of the country and the sign near this church said:
"Old Albington church and graveyard
The oldest Presbyterian church in Montgomery County and mother church directly or indirectly to ten offspring churches.
Founded in 1714 by the Rev Malachi Jones the first pastor.
The original church stood in the center of the graveyard and was moved to the present site in 1793.
During the American Revolution local militia skirmished with the British from the graveyard. Early settlers of Albington were English Quakers, Welsh, Scots and Dutch"
That's it for my "My World Tuesday" post. Click here if you would like to see My World posts from other blogs.

Historic Newtown Church
This is yet another old presbyterian church near my house. This one was erected in 1769 and repaired in 1842. It has a graveyard and little garden in back.I decided to join the Window Views meme because if you look at the window in the top picture there is plenty to see, not only in the church but also in the reflection.
So can you see all of it?

The Old Church of Saint Andrew
Do you remember these flowers? They are the same flowers, and the picture was taken on the same day as the pictures in my "Beauty vs Decay" post from two weeks ago. I took this picture while standing in front of the closed down 1950's era school. The Beautiful old church and cemetery across the street is about a two minute walk from my house."In 1880, a small band of Catholic families met together, searched for pastoral guidance, obtained land and finally built their church on South Sycamore Street, Newtown, dedicating it to St. Andrew."
Sorry about the power lines. :-(For more Mellow Yellow Monday posts click here.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church and Graveyard
I took this picture from the graveyard at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Burlington, New Jersey, about a half hour drive from Newtown. The church in the picture is actually the "new" church that was built in 1854, the old church is looks a lot less impressive but was built in 1703 and is the oldest Episcopal church in New Jersey. The graveyard that sits between the two churches dates back to 1695. I look forward to returning and exploring the inside of the churches. I read that the old church's silver communion service was a gift from England's Queen Anne before her death in 1713.
