The Big Picture

I do not live in "big sky country" but that does not stop the sky from stretching her blue canvas as far as the tree top horizon and dancing with flirty feathers across the air above my head.  This is the sky before our big cold front came through a few days ago.  While we did not get the quilts of snow, we did get a taste of winter and about an inch and half of the cold stuff.  It was light and fluffy and landed on top of a thin layer of rain that had frozen before the change to snow.  Taking a walk the next day was very crunchy and there were no animal tracks as clues of others that might have walked before the sun was up.

BERJAYA
This almost looks like waves on the water.

BERJAYA
Here you can begin to see the smear of the wind's (very cold) kiss.

BERJAYA
This one looks like a fire in the sky.

BERJAYA
And this is the end of the winter's day leaving a false mood of peace.

Sharpshooter

BERJAYA
The crisp white of the snow was a thousand mirrors against the setting sun. The surface of the water multiplied that reflection by another thousand shards of silver light. It pierced my eyes and was like white fire inside my brain. How could something so far away be so bright and still seem so cold? It was as if the earth welcomed this parting lightning glance from her old friend and in response swirled, tossing the hem of her dress with a glance over her shoulder displaying her version of fire and ice. It was as if a tango of ardor was being performed between the star and the planet. The intensity of the passion was not for mere mortals such as I to comprehend. I was to stay out of the way and let them do their Klingon dance.

She Will Get Your Attention

I was shopping the other day at one of those warehouse discount stores. The kind that make me feel guilty everytime I enter them. I needed napkins, paper towels, etc. ---remember my other blog and the visiting relatives?.

Inside the cavernous room people were busy stocking up on foods and decorations for the holidays. Baskets were filled with exotic pre-made desserts, large selections of cheeses and chunks of fresh or frozen meat. We all were eager to pay for our larder and get home.

Mother Nature knew we were distracted and insisted we pause, for as we left the building a fresh very cool rain had just passed leaving everything sparkly wet and as we looked to the sky not only one but two rainbows arched over the parking lot. Everyone stopped in their mad pace and strangers suddenly became wonderfilled children talking to each other and smiling at the sky.

I did not get a photo, but perhaps the words above can paint a picture in one's minds eye.
