A National Reckoning And Bad Neighbors

 There's some new Neighbors that bought a Home directly behind Omar's Property and we had to file our first Noise Complaint ever since moving here.  This is the Home they bought in late August {above} and you can see our Property kitty corner behind it, The RV Garage Mahal is visible to the Rear Left in this Drone Shot.  They paid close to $800,000, so one would assume the new Residents would have some modicum of Class and decency?  I mean, this isn't a Ghetto Hood where you expect the Police to have to be Called constantly.  There's Million Dollar Listings here to protect the Investment of.  

 Saturday Night they had a Mariachi Party, which is fine, the Weekends usually have many House Parties in the Community and we don't mind, usually and within reason of noise levels and time of day.  But, this one went on way too late and they had ridiculously loud Music playing until past 3:00 in the fucking Morning, keeping everyone awake or waking them up!  Our Adobe Burnt Brick construction is Blessed with 10-12 inch thick Walls that buffer almost all exterior noise, and you can see the vast space between Properties... and it was still loud enough it sounded like the Music was INSIDE our Home!  Even the Cat began howling in Protest!

It wasn't just loud Music either, it was badly played Instrumental Karaoke Mariachi sung drunkenly and out of Tune!  Really hard on the Ears and with shrill whooped Aye Aye Ayes. *LOL*  I know Police don't give Noise Complaints a high priority, especially on busy Weekends in the City.  But I can't imagine we were the only ones calling in a Complaint and can't Sleep over this Music blaring and the sloppy overly raucous drunken revelry accompanying it.  *Eye Roll*

 I've never understood when people are that inconsiderate of being a public nuisance. Of coarse, if enuf drinking goes on, anyone can become a Jerk I suppose and stray out of their Lane, into Oblivion and over the Line of Demarcation.  If you'd gotten your Tit caught in a Wringer you'd of sounded better than this Music!  This is what might have happened?  *LOL*  These folks are new and bought one of the remodeled beautiful Properties on the Street behind ours, so, we'll have to try to live in Harmony with these people and so will their other Neighbors.  Everyone in this Community try to be Good Neighbors, it was a draw to Buying here.

  I'm not opposed to anyone having a Good Time.  But, they won't be endearing themselves to Neighbors if they become Nuisance Neighbors too often and from The Jump of just moving in.  It's a tight knit Community and we've been told before by long time Generational Residents, that whenever a Troublesome Family Buys into the Mini Farm Community, pressure is put on by everyone else to run them off quickly.  *LOL*  Perhaps having the Police response will be an adequate Warning and strong Message to tone things down and keep it reasonable and considerate of others when they're having a Celebration?  Let's Hope so.

This is such a Lovely Community of folks who are very tight knit and long time Invested, so it would be a shame if a Newbie ruined the Positive Energy, Harmony and Vibe of the Community.   Once a Scottsdale Couple bought into the Community and tried to re-zone it Equestrian Only and force an HOA to be formed, within the Year the Community ran them Troublesome pretentious Fuckers off.  We don't want Neighbors like that ruining what we all have and desire.  Luckily, with being Mini Farms, our Properties are spaced pretty far apart and so you don't usually have issues.  Like you might with being in very close proximity with regular Residential Properties. 

  Most Single Family Residential Properties that are newer are built right on top of one another and flimsy construction.  Most of the newer Apartment Complexes are as vast as a Prison Complex, with Thousands of Units and just as ugly.  So, we feel quite fortunate that we have space around our Home and a larger than usual Urban Property that has more of a bucolic Rural feel to it.  And most of us resent where our Calm gets disrupted too much here and unpleasant Urban Issues move in.

We don't mind the Mini Farm noises of Livestock, even tho' some of the Animals can be quite vocal at times.  *LOL*  In fact we Love the Farm noises and wouldn't have bought into this Community if we didn't.  Our Neighbor Laura has Goats and sometimes the Male Goat can sound like a Human in distress, it's hilarious once you realize it's not a person in crisis.   It's fun to mess with Guests who assume it's a Human needing and crying for Help.  *LMAO*

  Another Neighbor has Peacocks and they can have a haunting cry, but none of this is a nuisance at all.  And every Morning the Roosters Crow, they are better than an Alarm Clock.  *Smiles*   Within 15 Minutes of our Call the Party Music shut down, so the Police response was quicker than anticipated and that was a relief so we could finally get some Sleep.  Luckily it wasn't a School Day or Work Day.  *Whew*

Both The Son and Princess T had also gone to House Parties this Saturday Night too.  But they each got Home at a reasonable time and had a good time, without incident.   We got good News that Timmy had bought a Car and was getting his License, so, he's agreed to Teach Princess T to Drive so I don't have to.   I'm so glad he's volunteered to take one for the Team, Bless him.  *Whew*

She's had other Friends volunteer too, and other Family Members, but she was adamant she wanted ME to Teach her.  But, she Trusts Timmy and he's GOT to be a better Driver and Teacher than Yours Truly!  *LOL*  She'd turned down offers from her Uncle, Allen, TJ, Anna and her Friends Anthony and Pamela... plus some other High School Friends.  Just about everyone she knows drives now so it is time she Learned and she wants to.

She won't be able to get a Vehicle until she can buy one tho' and afford the Insurance, I can't afford one now that we bought that 5th Wheel.  We aren't even sure now that The Daughter is coming back from Mexico?  She's procrastinating and I'm getting the sense she really doesn't want to live in America anymore and just doesn't know how to break that to us all?  I've told her it's fine if she's decided she's too homesick for there to return here.   She's lived there for over 17 Years and genuinely prefers it.

Plus, now she knows she can't get her Three Youngest out of the Country, I think she wants to be closer.  In case they should need her and the extended Families taking them in would need any present Help?  She knows that her Kids here are Grown now and don't need her really.  She has more Friends in Mexico and prefers the Quality of Life and Simplicity of it that she leads there.  Compared to here where it's not as Sociable or Community Oriented as Mexico.

There everyone knows her and looks out for her, here she really only has us and a handful of Childhood Friends she reconnected with after a long absence of living abroad.  There she's right on the Beach and there's always something to do.  She doesn't need a Car to get anywhere, and she can live cheaply, has cultivated many contacts and has loads of employment opportunities she is capable of doing.  I can see the Appeal being stronger to go back there and if she's Happier, I'd want that for her.

She's saying she's coming back, but, the longer she hasn't, the more likely she won't.  If she decides to live there again, I do Hope she can visit more regularly tho'.   Since, we'd really enjoyed her presence and quality time spent with her now.   She did contact me recently and said she finally got Bus Fare together and does plan to return... so... we'll see.  Her main reason for coming back would be I keep her more accountable to avoid relapsing into bad habits and keeping a lid on her drinking too.  It's a hard decision on where to Be.

For Years her Goal was to be able to get her Three Youngest Children into America so they could travel back and forth and have access to both Families in each Country.  Now it seems we'll have to wait until the Children are Adults and can apply to come on their own when they no longer have Custody Issues as Minors of a Foreign National and American Parents?  I know they wouldn't want to live here, just visit, and that's okay, they were born and raised in Mexico, so, that's their Home and where the Family is they 'know'.

Once they returned Home it seems everything was Fine for them and The Daughter sent short videos they'd sent her and they look Happy to be back where they belong.  It will of coarse take Time to get over the Trauma they experienced and have any potential for Closure about what happened to their Dad being the Victim of such a Violent Crime.  The Families of Crime Victims never really 'Get Over' such a Trauma, but, they can learn to live with it and move forward.

I think the Hope that he is still Alive is dim now, too much Time has passed and Police have it as a Cold Case now I'm sure.   Those who are Missing Persons never recovered, Dead or Alive, are the hardest of Crimes.   Since Families do NOT have the Closure they need and worry over what their Loved Ones may have experienced or still might be experiencing?  It becomes an Open Ended Wound that never has the ability to Heal and keeps festering over Time, with no Answers and often False Hope against Hope. 

 And... Perpetrators of Cold Case Files have gotten away with the Crimes if not ever Caught... so there's no Justice either for Victims and their Families.   I do Pray for a Resolution, Closure and Justice to be Served... but, I know that is a Big Ask and my Expectations are low actually, given the circumstances.   Any Criminal Organization that will brazenly commit a Serious potentially Deadly Assault and Abduction in broad Daylight and intentionally in front of Witnesses, isn't worried about being Caught.  I'm sure it's already known who they are.

Criminals smug in getting away with any Crimes become emboldened to escalate them and get worse.  Think about in our own System here, where Witnesses, Prosecutors, Court Staff and Victims are being brazenly Threatened and Intimidated, most receiving Death Threats, even by a Former President and his Violent Base... and you get the gist of why Prosecution is so difficult.  When I worked for the DA's Office, Syndicated Crime Rings were the absolute notoriously hardest to successfully Prosecute for that reason.  They instill Fear and Rule and Dominate by it, they pervert Justice and have contempt for The Rule of Law, thinking themselves above it.

 If that shit isn't put In Check early on, it gets harder to combat successfully.  Our GANG/ROP Bureau often had to Dismiss Cases or reduce Charges, often in spite of abundant Evidence.  Or Victims mount up on the Case, the retaliation and collateral damage often being more violent than the original Charges and Crimes.   The types of Charges that 45 is up against are very similar to any Organized Crime Cases I ever Worked and not all that different than any typical Mob or Cartel Cases.  Ponder that for a Moment would you... to absorb the Seriousness of our Political Crisis and who we once let into the White House to run our Country!

Blogging Thru An Episode

 

Saturday I never got out of my Jammies, I didn't feel good, my Blood Sugars had dipped to 81 and I feel crappier when they get too low than when they get too high.  Having a faulty Pancreas sucks, I've had a faulty one all my Life.  So, eating, and even not eating, can be a real Rollercoaster Ride back and forth.  I'm still on Insulin injections daily for Type II Diabetes, and Diabetic Oral Meds, so I just monitor myself closely and try to stabilize as best I can.

It was a good day in spite of feeling crappy, I just turned on the Christmas Music Cable Station, sat in front of my lit Christmas Tree, and priced Inventory while I felt good enuf to.  I had a Sugar Cookie scented Gold Canyon Candle burning and it was warm and toasty Inside, coz it was Cold as a Witches Tit Outside Today.   Then I Slept Off the worse part of a near Hypoglycemic Episode.  The Man kept checking on me to make sure I woke up and didn't go into a Diabetic Coma.  Yes, that can happen.

It didn't happen, and I still feel shaky and very weak, but the Cold Sweats and inability to stay awake have subsided and I don't feel like Crying anymore.  You get Emotional when your Sugars Crash and you can't Think straight either, so communicating can be hard.  You can even appear to be Drunk, same sort of Mental Confusion actually.  So, now I'm up again, I Blog.  If I don't make sense, at least you now know why!  Blogging thru an Episode.  *Bwahahaha*

The Kids can tell when I'm having an Episode since I can't finish a Sentence or make a lot of Sense while Talking.  So, it's like playing Charades with me to figure out what I'm trying to say when I Glitch and can't finish a conclusion to Talking to them.   We Laugh about it in Gallow's Humor Style, but it is very frustrating.  I just go Blank or stop Mid-Sentence, like a Wind Up Toy that has Wound Down and just Stopped.  But, I've always done this so it's nothing New.

Other that that, everything is Swell... Bwahahaha.  I talked to my Niece Brandy in Oklahoma.   I also got everyone's new Addresses updated so I could finish the Christmas Cards, so, they're Done now.  I used up the whole Grinch That Stole Christmas Box of Cards and luckily had a  Glitterized Kitten Box of Cards to default to in order to finish out my List. {Above}  Here's a lingering Question I've always had about Christmas Cards... when there's so many really Good ones, why do some folks Buy and Send Ugly ones?  I Guess it's Subjective really... but, haven't you ever received a Card and Thought:  Ugly Christmas Card?!  *LOL*

My Friend Nina Collected New Old Stock Vintage Christmas Cards and sends them every Year, I really look forward to those and Keep them.   Not Repops of Vintage Cards, which you can Buy too... she sends the Real Deal and most of hers are over a Half Century Old.   It's a heady Rush of Nostalgia to Receive a Card in Modern Times that you knew was Produced around the time you were Born or a Child... and is only just now being used as it was always intended. 

  There's something also very Special about it.  I fondly recall those Cards that had Tiny Toys attached, like a Whistle, Balloon, Spinners etcetera... or had Cut-Outs to hang on your Tree as Ornaments.   You can Buy Vintage Cards on Etsy, as well as Repops too... but, they tend to be very expensive.  Nina, like me, is a Junquer, so, we tend to look for our Vintage items on The Thrill Of The Hunt instead.  You'd be Surprised what people have Saved for Decades and then Donated... or their Heirs did.

 I've Resold Vintage Cards quite successfully too, people do Love the Vintage Graphics and to use them for Modern Special Occasions.  I once Scored a Bagged Lot of New Old Stock 1950's Baby Shower Cards and made a small Fortune off Reselling them individually.   These Pixs were gleaned from an Etsy Shop that had some very nice offerings of Vintage Cards for Sale in Sets of Half a Dozen.  I often Wonder what it would be like to find an Estate Sale where the decedent had a huge stash of New Old Stock of things never meant to be Preserved and still Exist due to them holding onto it?

One of my lasting Memories was a small Shop in a very Old Town in England that still had things in the Display Window from WWII and had been Closed since the 1930's!!!  It was like a glimpse into a Time Capsule where Time had stood still from when my Mom was Born... fascinating to behold.  I was beholding it in the early 1970's and I do Wonder if it is still there to this Day, still left untouched, standing still in Time?  I once did Google Earth to 'Virtually Walk' the Streets of that Old Town to see if it does, but couldn't locate it.  I'm sure the Historic Building still exists, since, that Town hasn't changed in all these Years.

I for one miss the Old Window Displays of Yesteryear.  I remember even in the 1970's working Seasonally for a Big Retail Store that still had them and we'd Decorate the Window Displays for the Holidays elaborately.   The Malls sometimes have Window Displays and some of the Shops do a fabulous job of Decorating them to draw you in and mesmerize you with their Creativity and Merch being Showcased.  I like Anthropologie's Displays... The Mind being The Magic.

I'm quite Happy with my Downsized version of Christmas, I haven't even taken down all of my Halloween and Harvest Inside yet, but feel no Need to Rush ushering it out.  There wasn't much put out for Autumn, so it would take mebbe 20 Minutes to take down.   I have the Den Decorated for Christmas and that's the Central Room of our Open Floorplan, so, it's Enough for now.   I have no sense of Urgency anymore to Decorate Seasonally, even tho' I thoroughly Enjoy it once it's up and Festive... Creating appropriate Seasonal Holiday Atmosphere and Ambiance.

I just don't have the Energy nor Time to scatter my focus this Winter.  I am prioritizing getting stuff sorted out, Edited and Purged, Sold Off or Donated this Year.  Once everything is Done then I figure I can Play with doing Permanent Seasonal Displays in The RV Garage Mahal.  To Showcase Seasonal Collections Year Round and not bother with the Work of putting up and taking down Holiday Decor in it's entirety.  I'll still do the Main House then, but, can Simplify that and make it not so Labor Intensive.  That's the Long Term Goal and Master Plan anyway.

As I'm Downsizing I envision that all I'll eventually Keep will be the most Beloved and Cherished, the Primo Objects and Possessions... everything else is subject to Change and being Sold Off.   Which is very Liberating, I ain't gonna Lie, as I detach all the more it's becoming easier to Let Go and enter a different Season of Life and Living more Simplistically again.  I doubt I will achieve Minimalist Living again anytime soon, but, you never know what the Future holds either.  I never Imagined I'd become a Maximalist, given how long I wasn't one.  Yet, here we are... *Ha ha ha*

I have often been told I'm very Random and a Person of Extremes and Contradictions, and... they could be Right.  *Winks*  Just when you think you got me figured out, I do a 180, since, I hate stagnation and find it Thrilling to do something different and unexpected.   Even for me it's often unexpected, the direction I'll suddenly take and gravitate to... so, I never say I NEVER will do something, or like something... coz, I just MIGHT?  *Winks*

I do see a Metamorphosis with each Property we've owned, becoz changing Locations does do something to you wanting to switch things up in how you Decorate a different Home and Create Atmosphere there.   Each Home having it's own Vibe and Personality, what Works in one doesn't necessarily Work in another.   This Home is Urban Farmhouse to it's Core, and, I was Intentionally seeking that when searching out a Forever Home.  It's what I wanted to achieve a Look for this Simplifying Season of our Lives.  And I put a Bohemian Spin on Urban Farmhouse Living... natch.  *Winks*

This Home was more Contemporary than I expected to totally fall in Love with, but, I have done Contemporary Properties in the Past and some are Timeless.   I can still totally dig a Mid-Century Modern Home done Well all these Years later, and I haven't Lived or Decorated like that since the Late 60's and Early 1970's.   But, it still Appeals to me strongly, whereas anything Post Mid-Century, like late 70's-80's-90's, I find to be hideous now.  It was a Culturally Deprived few Decades IMO, but, at the Antique Mall, some folks still totally dig it coz it's Sweetly Nostalgic to them I guess.  *Smiles*

Now, if I didn't have a Family and it was just me with no Kids, Pets or Menfolk... well, I'd be Living like the above and below pixs totally.   And, The Man could probably Tolerate it, but, he wouldn't feel as comfortable as I do in such Gypsified Victorian Funk Hippie surroundings.  He knows that's the Real Me tho' and I'd do some really outrageous shit to my Pad if I didn't have to consider anyone else.  *Ha ha ha*   BTW: Both Images are of the Original Magnolia Pearl Ranch in Bandera, Texas... and even Robin has had a Metamorphosis since Selling it and moving to a German Historic Homestead in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Danger On The Bus

 Today was Payday for The Son and I.  He won't be riding the City Bus Transit System anymore, it's no longer Safe to.  He almost got robbed by a large group of Nine Hispanics who'd gotten familiar with his Routine and were a bunch of obvious Stickup Kids pulling Robberies on the Transit System Regulars when it's a Payday.  The kind that commit a Robbery and Live Stream it on their Tik Tok for Sport.  He overheard the conversation in time and jumped off several stops early to call me.  He grew up in Da Hood and has Lived on the Streets, so is perceptive of what's going on around him that is 'Off'.

  I knew something was Wrong when he was talking in obvious Code and told me to stay on the Phone until I got there.   He was still far Downtown, so I was nervous about his safety 'til I got there.   I suspected he was in a Situation and is Street enough to know when the Vibe is Off and getting too dangerous.  When I arrived they scattered like Cockroaches, but One had followed him brazenly into the ARCO Convenience Store.  I'd told him to wait INSIDE a Public Place and near anything he could improvise as a Weapon if he had to.  The last thing he wanted to have to do after a hard day at Work was fight himself out of being Victimized and lose his entire Paycheck, Phone, Possessions and have some Punks Video Record it for Sic Kicks!

 He hadn't told me the Back Story until after he was picked up, but, he didn't have to.  He said it was the biggest Guy that followed him in and got right up on him, way too close for comfort.  Since the other Eight were now waiting at the Bus Stop for the next connection... and he wouldn't get jumped by too many to fight off... he told the big Guy to back the fuck off.  But it was too close a call and he had his whole Paycheck on him, since his Company, like many in the Trades, doesn't do Auto Deposits.  A lot of these Stickup Kids know this and make Marks out of the Working Guys in the Trades on a Payday.

The Son's Young Navajo Friend and Co-Worker got jumped and Robbed last Payday using the same Bus Route to get Home.  Likely it could be the same Gang of Perps, they beat him up pretty bad and stole his whole Paycheck.  He's a scrappy Young Tribal Guy, and no Easy Mark, but, no One Person, no matter how Tough, can fight off that many at once, The Son knew he couldn't, and he can fight good, but, not that good.   And, he's in his late 30's now and he said this roving Gang were all late Teens to early 20's, so you know they don't give a Fuck and likely are Strapped and willing to use any excuse for deadly force, he had no Weapon.

So, I told him no more Buses Home, I'll go pick him up after I pick his Niece up from School from now on, too risky, I don't want him getting hurt or killed being reliant on Public Transportation.   He doesn't have a Peace about being on a Route that this Crew is committing Robberies on, and, there is no other Route near his Work.  Society as a whole is going to Hell I think, the decline is obvious, the Moral Compass of so many is skewed, perversed or completely absent.  I mean we've got a former President whose got 4 Indictments going at once and 91 serious Charges... and people will still Support and Vote for him... that speaks Volumes about the Moral Decline and erosion of America's Values.

More Bad News was that Princess T is definitely NOT Graduating on Time and will need to recapture Credits this Summer in Summer School again, to try to Graduate at all in 2024.  We kind of Suspected that... she has her Cap and Gown bought already, it cost me a lot.  So, I'll just take Pixs of her in it, but she won't be attending any Graduation Ceremony with her Graduating Class.   She doesn't mind, she'd of had Anxiety about a Ceremony anyway.  If we can just manage to get her Graduated in 2024 I'll be Happy enuf. 

 Anyway... we'll figure it all out... you adapt... you improvise... it's what we do.  Other than all that... everything is Swell... Bwahahahaha.  I have another pile of Merch to bring in to the Showroom, Boho Wardrobe and Tees with Bands, Cute Graphics or Quotes are Selling very well.  So are 1960-1980 Promotional Glass Tumblers with Cartoon Characters.  Most were Promos from Fast Food Chains or Pepsi during that Era and are Dated.  I've only kept my 1973 Rocky & Bullwinkle Series and 1977 Evinrude ones.

They look Cute as a Display in the Showroom and are a cross Collectible, the Margins being great on them.   I can still often find them in Chazzas for under a couple Bucks and the Thrill of the Hunt for them is my Rush too.  I don't Collect them since I don't have little Kids at Home anymore.   Some are worth more than others, depending on rarity and popularity of the Character depicted.  I have my favs, the rest I'm not attached to at all to be Tempted to Keep.  When Japanese Pickers come from Japan they Love all American Cartoon related Vintage Merch and buy it in bulk.

Princess T finished her Gingerbread Hacienda and was disappointed that it was nothing like depicted on the Box and had no way to make it look like the Box's Image of it.  It was smaller and had less supplies than you'd need to get the desired Box Pix Result, so she felt ripped off.   But, in spite of that it was Editorial and Photographed well {below}, she did a good job, so, no harm no foul IMO.   But, I concurred it was NOTHING like they depicted on the Box's Graphics of it, so, it was a Bait and Switch Kit that would disappoint Buyers looking to replicate what the Box Image Promised.

You can do your own Comparison {See Box Image Below, compared to actual Kit inside Above}.   She said there was no Pink Icing and not enuf Icing in general to do the coverage the Box Image indicates.  No Bows so she had to improvise and it was impossible to pipe them like on the Image either.  And the little Light Candies didn't come in a variety of Colors like the Box depicted, just Red and Green.  Bummer, I agreed, it didn't look like a proper Hacienda at all like it did on the Box.  It wasn't a cheap Kit so she was not Happy with it or the results.   Usually she is... now I'm Glad I didn't buy the Double Decker Bus Gingerbread Kit, just in case it was a Bust too?  *Whew and LOL*

One of The Son's Lifelong Besties, Bee, found a couple Blast from the Past pixs of them as very Young Teens that I'd never seen before, so I was able to now have them.  {Below}   So, comparing Before and After of those was Fun too... fast forwarding a couple of Decades, now that they're all Middle Aged.    Now almost all of our Grandkids are Older than that and some of them are reaching Middle Age and have Children.  Time warps by, doesn't it?  *Smiles*   None of this Trio has ever Married and only Bee has a Teen Son... all their other Friends do have Families.

The Son is on the Right, Bee is Bottom Left, their other Friend Mike B hasn't had a current group shot with them but they still get together from time to time.   Now that he's back where he grew up, The Son has reconnected with his Lifelong Friends.   The only thing he regrets about leaving the East Valley is... less Crime... it's Safer Eastside for sure.  Not that it's SAFE anywhere anymore, but... SAFER... whereas Westside can still be quite rough and very Hood.    And... now that my Adult Kiddos are Middle Aged, they've transitioned into that Season of Life where Drama and a Headache they'd rather avoid too and just lead an Uneventful Life now.  *LOL*

I'd say they were about 14-15 Years Old in the above Pixs and Below is them in 2023 at The Son's 37th Birthday in June... along with his Sister and another Friend of theirs.  They're not looking bad for being in their late 30's now.  In many ways Bee and The Son haven't changed much at all, their Friends all Joke that they look very much like they did in High School, and haven't Aged... they do actually, people always recognize the both of them in spite of the many Years that have gone by.  The Son is still embarrassed when High School Aged Girls flirt with him and think he's Princess T's Older Brother and not her Middle Aged Uncle.  *LOL*
