Sur le quai du métro (Weekend Street/Reflections # 106)

BERJAYA

 Lyon, France

I was trying to remember what this man had in his hands beside the magazine. I took this picture in December (2016), so it was probably a bag with a Christmas gift and two rolls of wrapping paper.

Have a good weekend!

A Cold Day in Lyon (Weekend Street/Reflections # 90)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

I've noticed that a lot of French restaurants and shops, etc, are too hot in the winter. My hat, jacket, scarf, and gloves come off as soon as or sometimes before I enter.  It was the opposite when I lived in Texas. It could be 100 degrees, but my wife and I brought jackets to restaurants because of the powerful air conditioners.

I'm amazed by French people that wear heavy coats while they shop or eat and by Texans that wear shorts and T-shirts in restaurants that feel like refrigerators.

Coincidentally, I just noticed I'm wearing a T-shirt that has a French flag and a Texas flag. I got it from The Alliance Francaise in Dallas.

Have a good weekend!

Mais la plus rapide ? (Weekend Street/Reflections # 83)

BERJAYA

 Lyon, France

I noticed the sign in the window as these women slowly crossed the street. The sign says "La fibre, oui Mais la plus rapide" or "Fiber(optic), yes but the fastest."

L'Équipée Sauvage (Weekend Street/Reflections # 67)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

When I saw this guy hanging out with some friends it reminded me of a French, bicycle version of the movie The Wild One. He said something and pointed at a nearby Brazilian restaurant. I didn't understand what he said but I replied "oui tout à fait, il faut boire de la biere." Then he laughed and shook my hand. It was the first thing that came to mind and I guess it was the right thing to say. 😄

Spy vs Spy (Weekend Street/Reflections # 42)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

Continuing with last week's theme.😎

The black and white lines and this man's style remind me of a comic that I used to like when I was a kid.

Le Flipper (Weekend Street/Reflections # 30)

BERJAYA

 Lyon, France

Unlike last week's photo, there was little chance of these guys noticing me. It's been a while since I've played a pinball machine, but I remember how captivating they can be.

“L’amour c’est comme une cigarette” (Weekend Street/Reflections # 21)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

I was hoping that she would hop on the little motorcycle and do some wheelies, but she just stood there smoking.

I was reminded of two songs.

“L’amour c’est comme une cigarette” by Silvie Vartan and "Possible en Moto" by Johnny Hallyday. 😎

Aha ! une rencontre amoureuse.

BERJAYA

Ne vous inquiétez pas, je ne le dirai à personne.

BERJAYA

Lyon, France

He caught me taking their picture so I said something funny and they seemed to appreciate it,

I don't remember what I said so I improvised with the text above the photos.😀

La théorie de la vitre brisée (Weekend/Street Reflections # 16)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

We've almost always rented apartments with washing machines while traveling in Europe, but once while staying in a hotel, we used a  laundromat. It seemed like a waste of valuable time. However, I like to know where the nearest laundromat is just in case. 😎

Un p'tit apéro avec Le Capitaine Haddock ? (Weekend Street Reflections # 2)

BERJAYA

 Lyon, France

Bonsoir les gars /Good evening guys

The guy on the right kind of resembles Captain Haddock from The Adventures of Tintin. If only he had a pipe instead of a cigarette. 😀

Gnafron et la lumière dans la nuit (Weekend Reflections # 583)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

You might recognize the lamp and the building because they are reflected in the same window as last week. I took the photos at different angles. For more perspective you can see a little bit of the statue from last week in the top left corner of this reflection.  The man with the hat is a famous puppet named Gnafron.

Happy reflecting

Merci Marie (Weekend Reflections # 582)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

This reflection of an illuminated statue of Mary really stood out in the darkness. The lamps are also reflections. On a prior trip to Lyon I saw a huge lighted sign on the side of a hill that said,"Merci Marie." (Thank you, Mary)

Travaux Publics (Weekend Reflections # 570)

BERJAYA
Lyon, France

This is a reflection in a window along le quai Saint-Vincent. Everything in this photo is a reflection.  I made sure by looking at the white sign at the end of the bridge (right side) that reads  "La Saône passerelle", and sure enough, it's backwards. 😀

Happy reflecting!

Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse (Weekend Reflections # 569)

BERJAYA

   Lyon, France

The mural of the late great chef Paul Bocuse (1926 - 2018) watches over the food hall that bears his name.  I'm not a foodie, but I really enjoyed Les Halles de Lyon both times I visited the city.

Happy reflecting!
